HKS DLI test....
OK, so I wasn't sure if my hks DLI was working. with the car running, DLI unplugged I was getting 14.9v. With the HKS DLI plugged in I was getting 14.1-14.2. weird. Checked all connections and they were good. Took off the ground and cleaned off the chassis ground even better. New plugs, gapped to what it came out of the package (I know...lost my plug gapper) new 8.5 msd wires.
So...took it for a ride with the DLI unplugged and turned the boost down to 21psi and was getting blowout. turned it down more, same thing. Pulled over and plugged the DLI back in and made a couple runs up to 22.7 and ran strong and pulled hard with no blowout/stutter. Too many cars were coming around so I had to stop there. I guess my question is answered that the DLI works. But, why is the voltage lower when at idle?
Discussion would be appreciated.

Voltage lower due to the dli using it to supplement spark. Not sure what is inside the dli, but I would guess it is capacitors charging to release as needed.

I feel like what bill said is fairly common sense? I do not understand why you are confused about it...?

guess I didn't expect the DLI to draw that much voltage. How can I test with the car idling to see more spark? I mean, after watching a video with and without a spark amplifier, I was wondering if I can replicate that by running a plug and wire and watching it with the car running then reving?? I gues I am not sure exactly how the DLI works per say...

Not sure what you are looking to do/test? You already confirmed it works with your blowout test right?

I don't think you'd be able to test it without having an oscilloscope. I thought I once read all it really does is extend the dwell time of the primary coil at high rpms.

Are your yellow wires tied to the positive side or the negative side of the coil?

ground is bolted to the chassis.
the red power wire is on the 1st coil closet to the front of the car. next to the yellow wire

I see the problem already. You need a red wire at each coil lead. You're blowing out because you're only amping the spark signal at one coil. Fix it and you will have high boost..

All the coil+ reds should be already chained together.
