First time start up in years

I bought my 91 RT TT in November and it has a newish short block with rebuilt heads and about 1000 miles on it and has sat for ~4 years now. I just finished my build I'm pretty sure everything is wired and routed and plumbed to the best of my ability.

If I try to start it up tomorrow is there anythign I should look for to prevent any sort of damage? It has all fresh fluids and fresh timing components. I just don't want to start it up and then damage something by forgetting to hook something up or something stupid like that.

I know to prime the oil but after that then what?

Make sure the gas is fresh and you should be ok

Yep this, and the oil prime. I cant think of anything else right now. Good luck and have a fire extinguisher ready. :D

Watch temp gauge to be sure the cooling system is primed proper.

Good idea on watching temps. I'm sure there is air in the coolant system but if I run it with the overflow full it should manage to burp itself right?

Not necessarily. Drive it a couple miles with a gallon of coolant with you. Last one I had an issue with made it 10 miles before overheating. Full when left, 10 miles down the road 1 gallon low...

Well this is just going to be an idle functional check so I'll have to remember to do that when I get it on the road. I have an old standalone EMU that I bought used from Ninja and he's going to make sure that the tune on it is good base for my injectors. Still need to wire in the meth and the EBC soon. But I want to make sure that the lion's share of the work is done.

Charge your battery, unless its new :wink:

The battery probably won't last long enough to prime the motor lol! I plan on having having a battery charger/starter handy
