The rears are around $3-4 from Cherry Hill.

Should give you some extra stopping power! A couple mm more surface area never hurts!

Lemme go look at how my wear is, I had some SERIOUS SERIOUS squealing when I put some new blanks and AX-6 pads on several months ago, it was popping those springs off, I got some ebay slotted rotors and the noise stopped, havent put the springs on yet and 95% of the noise has gone away, never bothered putting them on again.

Ok well I am not saying no springs isnt a problem for you, just that it isnt for me, haha.

I wouldn't be surprised if he has first Gen rear brakes.

I have 1st gen rears that have worn like that, but not sure what springs he'd be talking about.
