Description
I bought my dream car in 2001, while on a Western Pacific deployment, from a dealer in Clovis, NM. I took possession of the car in August 2001. I competed in my first car show at Extreme Autofest 2006 in San Diego, and took Second Place "Best 3000GT." I took First Place "2nd Gen" at the West Coast National Convention (WCNC) 2006 in Las Vegas. In April 2007, I drove the car from San Diego, CA to Newport, RI and back, without incident!

Due to being on several deployments with the Navy, I was away from the car show circuit until August 2010. I went to the RPM car show in Irvine, CA. and won Second Place "Best Daily Driver" in a pretty large field of cars, including all makes and models. I love this platform, and although I don't have the speed of the VR-4's, I do have reliability on my side.

I moved from San Diego to Dallas in June 2011, and placed in the "Top 15" at the O'Reilly/Firestone Car Show in Garland, TX on July 15th, 2011.

2012 turned out to be a bittersweet year...

The car did great on the Import Face Off car show circuit by winning ten trophies:
- Best Mitsubishi, Best Engine Bay and Best Display at Shreveport, LA, Ennis, TX (x2), and Noble, OK (x2).

Won "Best Mitsubishi" at the 52nd annual O’Reilly Auto Parts AutoRama held at the Dallas Market Hall in Dallas, TX. Won "Best In Show" and a $500 gift certificate at Mitsubishi Owner's Day hosted by Don Herring Mitsubishi in Irving, TX. The car also won awards at other local car shows.

The night before Wekfest in Austin, TX, in September, I was the victim of a "hit and run" and wasn't able to compete. I had driven 3 hours to Austin, and been selected in the top 1/3 of cars submitted for the event. The other driver was eventually tracked down, and I worked with his insurance company to file the claim. I sourced a Novara bumper from a local member, and went with a '99 conversion.

There's a picture of the car in the October 2012 and April 2013 editions of Import Tuner magazine, where they featured the Top Eight Mid-Season and Top Ten Final standings of the IFO Car Show Points Leaders!

I'm looking forward to the car show season in 2013!

This has turned out to be a great hobby!
