Description
Well I had a novel typed the first time and the forum ate it so let's hope this one works.

Bought the car in April 2004 with about 119,700 on the clock. Got it from an older gentleman who used it for his daily commute. Lots of highway miles but a thorough service record and the mechanicals seemed alright. Just needed some elbow grease and a good cleaning and it's be ready to roll. Shortly after purchase I performed a 60k maintenance and some other basics and just drove/enjoyed the car for awhile.

Early spring 2005 I added the Tein S.Tech springs, KYB struts, and replaced all the suspension wear items. Also added the Autometer gauges to the interior. In July 2005 I attended the NG in St. Joseph, MI (what a blast!). Unbeknownst to me at the time, the car had developed a nice leak from the transfer case and decided to lock up on my drive home late Saturday night (in the rain I might add). Chrysler then proceeded to screw up the TC three time before I got a good one, we'll call this TC #2. My step-father also passed away during this time so life wasn't treating my family especially well. But, pick up the pieces and keep going. From this point, the modding began . . .

My friend offered to open up my trans and replace the blown VCU (courtesy TC #1), which i happily took him up on. With the trans being out of the car, I figured, why not freshen up the engine before the real moddings starts? I wanted a good base before throwing more power at it. The engine was exceptionally clean inside (thanks Mobil1!) and save for the crank being slightly out of round and a few fused oil control rings, everything was in order. A little machining and some King Bi-metal .025 over bearings and a set of Ross 9:1 .030 over pistons and I was on my way. I also replaced the clutch with an RPS max unit, installed a Stillen downpipe with AEM wideband O2, and upgraded the brakes and pads.

Spring of 2006 I got it fired up and drove it in mostly stock fashion all summer, just enjoying the car. As the winter approached a new round of mods would begin. I pulled the TC drain plug to find a good bit of metal shavings, thus TC #2 went to the trash and TC #3 was procured and installed. Over the winter I added 13T turbos, an IPS FMIC, an IPS quad tip exhaust, MAFT-Pro in speed density, Evo 560s, and few odds and ends to round it out. The tune was a bit rough but the car ran well and in the spring of 2007 the car was a lot of fun.

In July 2007 I posted a personal best of 12.46@116. But shortly after than on a normal street drive, the car started making a nasty grinding noise. I figured it was the clutch or something in the trans and proceeded to start pulling the TC. Pulled the drain plug and a few gear teeth game out. In the end, I sheard off about eight teeth. I haven't the slightest clue as to how, but TC #3 was done. Put TC #4 in, another used unit, and went about the rest of the fall.

I was to put the car away in November 2007 but couldn't get home from school to do it. No matter, the weather was nice and I'd just drive it another week before putting her away for sleep. But alas, that week a Flintoid (our pet name for local Flint, MI natives) decided to pull her grand am out in front of my and clip the front passenger corner. The bumper cover, fender, ball joint, headlight bucket, and turn signal were shot, as well as some damage to the ABS pump. I spent the winter making the repairs myself (except the paint and welding in the new bucket). I added an ACPT 1-piece CFDS as well as finally doing the digital CC conversion I'd had in a box for 3 years.

I worked for the world's largest automotive leather supplier at the time and always had a desire to redo my seats. Nothing gaudy of course, and in my opinion, the cheap aftermarket covers look like trash, I wanted something that looked OEM but was much higher quality. I got my hands on some Cadillac Opulent Tuscany hides and worked with an upholsterer to redo the seats in 100% cowhide, no vinyl here. The seats look almost OEM save for a few slight tweaks we made to enhance the look. All but the most discerning enthusiaists probably wouldn't notice the tweaks. The seats also have the Cadillac Aroma applied to them, thus the interior smells quite good.

I drove the car the summer of 2008 before heading to Europe. Upon my return I moved to Houston in early 2009 and started prepping the car for daily driver duty again as I was about to turn in my truck. I scored an OEM '96 spoiler (in Emerald Green lucky me) and set to work making the A/C functional (it never worked when I owned the car). After countless hours and dollars, it works great for about three weeks then leaks all the freon out. This isn't good in a Houston summer. I drove the car daily from May 2009 through January 2010 when I finally broke down and bought another daily - my Grand Cherokee Overland.

The car has mostly sat since then. I dropped the FMIC, IPS Quad tip (which sounded great with some Magnaflow Race Series on it), and MAFT-Pro and returned those items to stock. I also added a coil on plug ignition setup over the summer of 2010 as well. That's where the car sits now. I need to get it inspected, aligned, and the a/c working so I can enjoy it again. I aim to tackle that in January/February now that the weather is cooler.

That's my story (thus far). Thanks for tuning in!
