Dougal's 1995 Mitsubishi Magna 6G72TT conversion project

Rate this Entry
Hello everyone,

I bought a half cut Mitsubishi GTO in 2010-11 and decided to do the unthinkable and install that into the Magna.
Took nearly 8 years and required scrapping a 4 Cyl TR Magna (first attempt at the conversion) to make this work!

The start of this conversion began at a time when my dad was going through chemo-therapy and i was hauling his ass back and forth to hospital as his full time carer.
Unfortunately my father did not survive the intense adverse affects of the chemo and he passed away in late 2011.

I dedicated this build to him even though he did not really like it , take interest in it. However i think he would still be proud that I stuck with something this long and committed to it!

Anyway here some stuff about it and some photos.

Last friday the car was officially registered in NSW Australia
It has passed all the bakes tests, emissions tests and blue slip inspection.
It is 100% engineer complianced which comes with a certificate so if i get pulled up by the police i should not get any hassles for the modifications.

I've driven the car 3 times since getting it registered (making up for all the time it was garaged)
Its a bad ass drive. Power to weight is great...its nibble around corners and powerful where it needs it.

More upgrades and work to be done on it so watch this space!

Some of the plans I have for this car

    - EVO 560 cc injectors (already purchased)
    - Hybrid TD04L-19T conversion (I have the 19T compressor cover and wheels and have 2 used WRX 13T's to take the L turbine wheel and machine 9b housing to fit)
    - Install Cooling Mist Water/Meth injection kit and use output settings from Chrome ecu Mods (already purchased tank, pump and nozzles just need hobb switch and wiring)
    - Finish InCar PC project - I built a Win 7 Single Board PC and touch screen interface
    - Refurbish stock 17" GTO rims and fit to car.

But before doing this I am going to put some miles on the car. I need to reclaim 7 years of working on this car and have some fun in it.

So in a weird sequence of events I have managed to obtain a Mitsubishi Diamante (1991). The car is a Japanese import to Australia.

Unfortunately the car cannot be registered here again (long story based on it being classed as a write off in another state in Australia)

So I have a parts car which is unreal but sad at the same time as its disappointing to see such a wonderful car not be maintained to its former glory.

Will update the build with parts used in the TT Magna.
