I would say the only good things coming from Apple are their ability to market their product and provide the users with what they really want. I think when doing Audio, Photo, and Video, Apple machines really do it the best, IMO. The PC can do all of the above too, and very well plus the cost is night and day between PC and Apple products, plus you have the option of picking the components you really want in a PC rather than getting locked into what Apple can provide.

i will say this, if apple's new retina MBP had a better graphics card, i'd seriously consider buying one, wiping it, installing win 7, and calling it a day. just try and find laptops with > 1080p displays.

On my MPB, I ended up dual-partitioning it for Win 7 (I use it about 25% of the time). The only problem is, AFAIK, there aren't any Win 7 developers optimizing their apps for retina displays (for now). Hopefully this changes in the near future.

i'm a gamer & a videophile. i'll take whatever high resolution i can get. it's a thorn in my side that smartphones & now tablets are getting such high resolution displays. the new kindle fire HD 8.9" has a 1080p screen, ffs. wtf can't i get something better than that in a 15" laptop?

as i said though, the MBP has a piss-poor GPU, and though i'd be willing to shell out 2k for a 15.4" laptop with a wqxga screen...it needs the hardware to back it up. one of the reasons i'm keeping my old sager is it is one of the last 15.4" laptops with a matte wuxga screen. having a 250+ ppi matte screen in a 15.4" laptop is actually worth a $300-500 premium...to me. problem is finding one.

...the other drawback to the MBP, as with all apple products, is the piss-poor cooling.
