View Full Version : Cruise Control Tray Idea

I have the CC tray with the outlet. If I plug anything in the outlet, it's all kinds of in the way of my touchscreen double din stereo. I have to reach around the plug to try to push buttons on the screen (really annoying). Also that tiny little storage space in the tray is absolutely useless. I guess if you need somewhere to put a couple of AAA batteries or a few coins, that would work. So I was looking for a CC tray without an outlet. Then I thought about modding this tray to make it deeper. There's all kinds of room underneath. Why the hell is it only 1/4" deep anyway???
Has anyone done this before? If there's some for sale, please point me in the right direction, I'll buy one. If not, I'm going to try to start making them.

some n/a's don't have the outlet in that tray. i actually WANT the outlet in the tray (i got one made that way). if you're handy, i'd suggest getting an n/a tray and moving the switches on your center console there, and putting the outlet there instead (mine came stock with the outlet on the console).

That's what I was going to do, but I want to make the tray deeper. Moving the outlet is easy. Still debating where I want to put it, probably have 1 on the console and another inside the console.

I am using my Tray to put my datalogging cable serial connector molded into the tray. From there, I can plug in my Palm or my laptop into the connector.

you could try and find one of those trays that mounted underneath single-din stock radios...and try modding it to fit. i personally have a pipe-dream about putting a power inverter in that "dead space" and tapping a 110v outlet in that slot. it would make accessory for using laptops, etc while on the go.
I want a right-angle AUX plug.

or part-express
I wasn't awfully successful using simple search...I mean, yeah, Parts Express is the one place I checked, beyond Amazon - anything I did find didn't turn me on.
I just want a good solid juice-passer to run a multi in the rear footwell.

lol, yeah they're all over the place
IPD I thought about the single din cubby already. It'd be too wide though.

Why, thank you Bill.
The first and last are ideal, and one of them will soon be mine. :)
