View Full Version : Stalling unless Air Conditioning is on

Yet another stalling thread.

After changing my spark plugs, wires, cap, and rotor my 1998 SOHC idles lower at about 700 rpm and will stall out. If I keep my air conditioning on the idle is more around 1K and it won't stall. It ran ok before I changed everything out. I did disconnect the battery when I changed out the wires etc . . .

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Disconnecting your battery loses your "learned" settings, one of which "good" idle.

Not uncommon. Usually a few days of on, run for a bit, off will re-learn that idle.

In the mean time, you may be able to adjust the BISS (do SOHC have these?)....

(BISS = Base Idle Speed Screw)

I adjusted the BISS and brought up the idle and now it runs fine without stalling or errant idle speeds.

Thanks!
