The one food recomendation I do think people should look into, if you have never had them before, is a bbq pork steak. For some reason these delicous things don't seem to be too prevelant outside the midwest.

For weekend?
We don't have a weekender any more. The idea was that a "weekender" registration would get a lot of people that could come only for the weekend. We never had that many weekend onlys. Most of the ones that did wanted to come early and it just ended up being a lot more work for us.

Would it make sense to sell my registration and just be a guest on my friends now that my car is blown up? If anything I am only going to do autocross with his car.

Only if you sell your package to someone at prices higher than the early reg prices you paid. If you sold your registration for what you paid for it, you would save $10 by switching to a guest(assuming your wife is still coming). You'd save more just canceling the drags/dyno and getting the refund thats allowed per the rules.

Depends on how technical you get. I did not realize that the STL in Il was actually East St Louis.

Of all the events that week only one is in ST Louis, MO (gokarts) All the rest are in IL. Track is in Madison, IL (neigobors East STL) the banquet is in collinsville, Il and the Car show is in Alton, Il

But unless you spend the week in the parking lot at the hotel you'll probably end up in STL, mo on several occasions.

It is all in the metro area, so not really a big deal. And for those that are not familiar with the area you can be reassured that all our events are not in bad parts of the area. We will not be in East St. Louis or Washington Park.

Tell people around here you are headed to the east side they think two things, $1 bills and strip clubs. East Side = Sauget, IL

So Sauget and Washington park are the areas you want to avoid?

Mike and were just talking about this the other night.

We wondered off in a bad part of Memphis by accident one year.
I don't want to do that again.

East St. Louis and Washington Park are the bad spots just east of the river. Sauget isn't in the same category but unless you find the need to visit strip clubs there really isn't any reason to be there.

The track is right off of the highway and is a straight shot down the highway from the hotel, so travel to and from the track will be a piece of cake. And when heading into St. Louis for sight seeing or go karts you just stay on the highway until you cross the river.

Also if you want to go somewhere and have questions feel free to ask a local, we will gladly help.

The STL group had a similar issue with passing an exit and winding up in a questionable part of Memphis on the way to the car show in 08. So I feel you on the high tension city tour thing.

I actually work 5 minutes from the hotel.

There's a White Castle within walking distance for all of your late night burger cravings. lol
There's a family water park within walking distance as well. Pack your suits if you're bringing the little ones.
There's a Country Dance club within walking distance... Get your boot scootin' boogie on.
There's a go-kart, mini golf, and arcade within walking distance. Let your kids play games for tickets for trinkets

With the car show being in Alton... I would be remiss without talking about Fast Eddies for awesome, cheap food and cold drinks. (Lori and Alan got a taste of it on one of their visits)

Also, has there ever been consideration to giving locals "day passes" at a certain price points?

For instance... let's say I want to bring my dad to something one day and my brother another but their schedules don't allow them to attend all events. Very pricey for a local to bring a "guest" like that for one event, hence a "day pass". Just throwing out ideas.

The spectator option is for the track entry ONLY! $10 at the gate.

Hanging out at the hotel for people that are not registered is not allowed.

Unfortunately no real time for fast eddies on Saturday. Only a few hours separate the car show and the Banquet.

Come on Alan there is always time for a Fat Eddie Burger, a couple Big Elwoods, and some cold beer.:drink3:

There may not be time on Saturday, but a visit to Fast Eddies Bon Air is a highly recomended. The food is very tasty, the beer is super cold, and prices are pretty cheap. So for those looking for dinner ideas, I strongly recomend checking this place out on a weeknight. If you wait for the weekend it will be stupid busy.

Hmmmm That's strange. I counted - can't remember the exact numer. There's a huge area right next to the hotel that trailers will be parking in, and several adjacent hotels, a couple of which are owned by the same people. No worries - parking won't be a problem. It's not my first rodeo.

MAJOR PROTIP

IL State Troopers are relentless and the official Hotel is within a stone's throw of a State Police HQ.

Also, Collinsville's PD patrols 255/55/70/64 right by the hotel, too.

As a matter of fact, the entire 55/64/70 area is notorious for drug busts and speed traps. With so many people having out of state plates, please exercise extreme caution on the highways/roads.

For race gas, call these guys: Sieveking - Leading distributor of Petroleum Products, Race Fuels, Premium Diesel, Lubricants, Automotive Oil (http://www.sievekinginc.com/) They have everything you desire.

The stations near me that used to have 110 leaded no longer carry it, and I hear it was shit anyways.

Update on Race Fuel availability:

I happened to stop at a filling station in Arnold (south STL metro) on Saturday and saw that it sold 110 (leaded). I did not purchase any so I can't comment on quality but it can be had if someone needs some before they get to the track.

The station is a Phillips 66 at the corner of Jeffco Blvd and Villa Dr in Arnold, MO; right next to an ACE hardware.

Granny, missed you out in the parking lot this evening. Not that I was out there that long, either... Getting work done this evening and a little "me" time before it's too late...

As for whoever asked about registering on Saturday... We don't have a weekender registration this year, and no registration times specifically set up on Saturday. When you get in, hit me up, preferably in the morning before we leave, and we'll figure it out. Car show is at 10, so get in touch with me around 9 or so and I'll take care of it for you.

Just got back and I can tell you that this was one of the best one's I've attended :)

Lori (and Alan, and Bob and....) did an AWESOME job!!!!

The track and it's crew were TOP NOTCH

My son and I attended everything except tonight's banquet (he needed to get back to HIS home for work)...

Meeting new members (and re-embracing the old) was the highlight of the event :)

Finally got to meet my chatbox buddies....2fnloud (Steve), Anyonebutme (Chris), TT4ME (Dave), WhiteDragon (Doug),RT/93 (Nathan), JasonY (Jason), TooTiredToRememberYourSN (Nadeem :) ...SUPER nice guy!!! ) [Hope I didn't leave anyone out...]

JeffW, Lori, Alan, Brian (Haig), SteveVR4 (3SX), Christie, Hans, Emilie (and Master Otto), Paul, Dave Lo....just some of the long timers (or ALL timers)....you are the best!!!

The newer crowd (or not so new) Lawdog and Bridge, CheckeredVR4 (Scott), B-Man (Bryan) [he is also a chat buddy!...and he needs new rotors..so lets take up a collection!!!], BigPete, and LOTS of VERY talented young lady drivers (who were not too hard on the eye as well :) )

These people came from EVERYWHERE...Tom (from Florida...originally from CA and attended MANY NG's), Nathan (from Washington), Kev (boost4vr4) from Mini Soda!... and the list goes on...

I was very flattered when someone would come to me and shake my hand....Gary (Mitsu Fan), Nadeem (I'llRememberYourSNTomorrow!), Chris and Doug (ABM and Whitedragon). I really enjoyed meeting each and all of you (and again, I apologize if I left anyone (I'm OLD) out....)

I want to thank you for letting me a part of your NG13 and want you to know that each and every one of you are my friends....

Safe travels home and hope to see you all again next year...

Bob. :)

...getting ready to call it a day and realized I forgot to thank my good friend Jeff (Gatecrasher) for winning the biggest of prizes (with my one measly ticket) at the banquet...

...also forgot I hugged his fiance, Vira (I had met her before, but who refuses a hug?) :)

Josh Mitoska...thank you taking care of Alex's leather needs (you're a good chat buddy too :) )

I will keep adding as flashbacks keep coming...

(Bob. :) )

Insanely pumped to hear this. Not only for the selfish reason that it's closer to me but I've heard good things about the road course (and I'm already looking into track days there to get some before-event practice in ;)).

I'm not sure where the drag races will be but if they're where I'm thinking my brother has raced there multiple times and says it's a really nice track.

Too add on to that... instead of a trophies for everyone after 1st... maybe a certificate.

Then the person could throw that in a frame if they really wanted something to show off. A compromise between nothing and something.
