Alright guys, this one will probably show up sometime this winter if theres enough interest. Would anyone be interested in a way to make the stock center gauges accurate? For example, have the lower tick on the oil pressure gauge be somethnig like 50/75 psi and the upper tick be 100/150psi.
I dont like the idea of paying up the wazoo for gauges that dont fit my tastes, and on a daily driver I just want something that works and looks stock. Just like the data system and the pop up controller, I'll most likely be building this for myself anyway, and just checking here to see if anyone would be interested :)
It would involve replacing the sender with something more accurate ($65 range for the oil pressure is what I'm looking at now). It would also involve a core system where you send in your gauges, as alot of modifying is required.
Might be able to include other features found on other gauges as well.
What do you guys think? Yay or nay? Any questions?

Maybe add a different glow face option for an added price.

Interesting have to see how the final/prototype product actually works and looks... to give you honest answer here.. :D

I would like to get in on this. I'm always down for keeping the stock appearance, but making it better.

Understandable, I'm the same way.

Great :) Thats the game plan. Not sure what I can do with the boost gauge as I own an N/A, but I didnt have any trouble finding guinea pigs for the light controller so I think I'll be able to work something out.

If you could get the stock center three gauges to be accurate, I would SO be down for that!!

Me too, I am ALL about keeping the stock look inside. D
Did you finish the pop-up controller? I haven't been on the "OLD" site to see.

Glad theres some people on the same page as me here :) haha
And yes I did finish it and sold 8 of them so far (theyre actually in transit this week!) I'll be selling them here once I place another order for parts.

i would definitely be game. that would be sick.

Would it be weird if we did something like double the scale on the boost gauge? For example, 7psi would be 14 psi, and 14 psi would be 28? What about some sort switch to move between the two?

Potentially, ive got to crack one open and how everything places in there, then think about how to make the new ones or what have you.

Where did you end up mounting it and what does it look like? I'm interested.

I actually havent mounted mine yet because ive been using my car to test all the new ones i make XD But im thinking about mounting mine in the glove box or center console.

Gotchya, that makes sense but wouldn't the stock gauge show inaccurate vac levels at idle since it is only -7?
I would definitely be interested. Actually, I would like to convert the stock TT boost gauge function to a voltage gauge. I've been wondering about just replacing the oil pressure sender.
And if we could find a way to make gauges that exactly match the stock gauges (in appearance), in 52 and/or 60mm size, that would be awesome, so we could add gauges to the a-pillar as supplementals (wideband02, oil temp, etc) and have the exact same style. I think that's asking a bit much, though.
But def in on the accurate gauges and converting my boost to voltage. :D

I would have no idea how you can make the stock boost gauge accurate if they are a load meter off the ecu. :/
You can definitely make the others more accurate.

A 3-4 bar MAP sensor designed to work with the stock gauge :D

Yeah ive already found the sensor for the boost gauge that meets my needs, its from the same distributor as the temp and oil pressure sender also so that works out well. Keep in mind ill be ripping apart the gauges and installing stepper motors + electronics, so it will be very accurate. We can do a full sweep at start up if you want to be fancy :P
Only thing right now that im worried about is scale-related stuff for some of you guys running more than 14lbs of boost, like I said I can double it so when it reads 7 that means 14, when it reads 14 it means 28 (and everywhere in between) but youd have to keep that in mind.
I can definitely look into making matching gauges for wide band and others, though my manufacturing ability right now is slim to none. Electronics wise its nothing different than what im doing with the others, but some of that might have to wait until I can figure the other stuff out.
As far as converting the boost to voltage, wouldn't an N/A gauge cluster suffice?

Oh yes!

I'm definitely interested in this and would be happy to help out.
For me though, I'd like to leave the boost gauge stock as one of the future goals for the 99 ecu roms is to have it switchable to anything the ecu logs (like knock or o2). With the addition of the evo x map sensor, I can have it show boost as well.

Great! And id be able to do each gauge individually for a different price...so people who only care about say the oil gauge can only have the oil gauge done, or only the oil and boost, etc etc.
