Daylight savings doesn't affect the winter months. Technically, the timing for DST is off the baseline time DURING winter months. It's just during the summer that the time shifts to +1. So even if you eliminated DST, you aren't changing a damn thing about when the sun rises/sets during winter.

The chain-brake is actuated by the left hand as it leaves the saw in the event of a kick-back; in order to do this, the hand has to make slight - but purposeful - contact with the bale that extends from the brake mechanism around the left circumference of the saw, extending past the upper grip, adjacent to the knuckles on that hand.

It is still entirely possible - though a bit more difficult - to make contact with a turning chain.

All depends of the size of the saw, with a small 10 inch bar, it'd be hard to fall on. If you're running a bigger saw with a long bar it takes a second to stop.

Back in the day, I sold auto parts.

On weekends, I'd go to the shop, grab a couple of cases of u-joints, and go hang out at a local place called Bitterband - big old 40-acre mud-pie the 4 wheeler guys frequented.

I'd basically just sit and drink beer, selling flexers to anyone who broke - my boss didn't mind, the beer was free, and I'd make a bit of cash wrenching here and there.

The Jeep guys were by far my best customers, and this one guy kept pestering me to let him take me for a spin.

The one time I said yes, ^that^ is exactly what he did.
