I run the MS1 on my other car and love it, the Hybrid sd/alpha-n sounds interesting!.

Its supposed to be easy, but I dont know. A hell of a lot cheaper than AEM.

Found out last night on DSM Talk that they have been running them for a while now and love them. I may give it a go in a couple months. Would be a nice winter project.

I ran a Megasquirt (which is very similiar to the Microsquirt based ecu mentioned here) on my old turbo Volvo. It was pretty cool and very flexable/hackable. One of my biggest complaints with Megasquirt was its knock control. It just looked at the voltage output of the knock sensor and didn't window it against ignition events or perform any kind of post processing on the signal. Fortunately since Volvo engines and SAAB engines have similar acoustic qualities, I was able to hack a SAAB apc to provide signal processing and then trigger megasquirt knock input with the apc, worked pretty good. I had a 57 trim t3/t4 hybrid pushing 22 psi through an NPR intercooler into that old volvo which made it almost as quick as a stock evo. :)

Yeah the whole knock issue is supposed to be taken care of. A nice feature is their support center/forum. I skimmed through and noticed they were very willing to help people get things working correctly. I am surprised that cheap ass 3s owners such as myself have not been running these for a few years now. I understand that AEM is a great stand alone EMS but I cant justify the $1500 price tag. Seems the Megasquirt III is capable of everything AEM is for less than 1/2 the price. I really like the upgrading aspect of the system.

I had a 93 MR2 I set up with an MS2, the thing runs great.

It's easily one of the best aftermarket EMS' available for any car, and the tune-ability of this EMS is just astounding. I love it.

It's way over my head. I would love to try and run one sometime. There have been one or two people that have successfully set one up on a 3S and it has been running great for a few years. They haven't taken advantage of all the features yet partially because of not understanding how they work. Either you spend more of your time and less money to get a MS setup or spend less of your time and more money to get an AEM EMS. It's a matter of what your time is worth.
