I've been away from the 3s community for quite a while, but still kept contact with a few members. Some may remember me from about 10 years ago. Anyway, I am in the Air Force and currently deployed to 120° weather and more sun and dust than anyone could want.

Anyway,
When I get back to Germany and the autobahns, I am considering a new purchase... I saw this for sale and we'll see what happens if it's still there when I get back. My only question is... it's a J-Spec car, registered in the UK, and will be registered in the military system in Germany... what are the chances of being able to have it shipped home?

Looks insanely clean.

I love it.

Although, I don't get why there is cloth interior. O.o

because it's a real GTO... the real ones were an SL with AWD and TT. Notice the non-active aero as well. Also manual climate control and no AWS, etc etc

Ive always wondered, on a RHD car, is 1st still in the upper left or does it move it to the upper right?

But don't the SLs have the automatic climate control? Mine does... and it has leather. I'm sure the leather is an option, but I thought the SLs had the automatic climate control. Maybe I'll have to double check my window sticker.

You can have my old leather seats if you get it ;). Although, I don't know if you want my fronts, but my rears are still nice. eww RHD blah

holy crap, are you who I think you are? lol

Chances are slim to none on being able to bring it into the US. You may be able to bring it through Canada... it's a real slim chance, and a total crapshoot though.

Electronic climate control was only included on 91-95 (maybe 96 as well) SL's. Leather us more a USDM thing; particularly in the 90's.

I believe electronic climate control was only on the 91-93 SL's. They got rid of it in the second gen's.

That, I did. Currently, I have a 93 Viper that's sitting in my garage in Germany while i am stuck in Saudi Arabia.

Yeah, now that I think about it, it was only a 1st gen thing. I'm getting forgetful in my old age... :o

You would be correct. 2nd gen SL's have rotary dials. Which I'm plenty fine with.

Dont mean to blow the chances but look into to shipping to the states, even through Canada you may have issues. I looked into shipping my old GTO over there but i came across a huge problem. The log book/title for it. If it shows it as a 3000gt then you shouldnt have any issues but if it does say GTO then problems will arise. To send mine from the uk it would have cost me around £3500, then there was no guarantee that the USA or Canadian import stations would let it in with it having the right hand drive. If it does say GTO on the title/log book then you may need to look further into it as i am under the impression that you would need to import around 10-20 cars of the same just so the US government could crash test all bar the one you require over there.
If your buying the car to use within Europe then you wont have any problems what so ever.

interesting... I'm sure that I can get a USAEUR title that says 3000GT and then I can also get a michigan title that says the same thing. The only problem is that the shipping company requires a DOT sticker on the driver's door jam

Thats is interesting too i have never heard of that before unless it is something the Americans make you have on the imports. But it is worth looking into especially if you are wanting to take it back to the states.

From what I look up in the past I believe it has to be on a list of vehicles allowed imported in the state, 15 years or older, and the state you register it in. And another note if it's for track use only I'm pretty sure you can import it in only for that purpose only
