Forum announcements loading slowly, causing occassional misclicks

The forum announcements load slowly on a 3G connection and on IE (lol who uses IE still?). So too does the "Facebook Platform" login button above the "notifications" link. This is particularly frustrating if I'm trying to click on things before these load, as improper timing can cause me to click on another object inadvertently. For example, sometimes I attempt to click the "Settings" link to get to my User CP before the Facebook link fully loads, and before my command completes the announcements load, causing me to inadvertently hit the "My Profile" button. Other examples include attempting to click threads in my User CP before the announcements fully load, and as above, inadvertently clicking another link as they properly load.

This is a relatively small gripe, but I figured I'd post about it for quality improvement purposes. Perhaps there is a way to improve how these announcements load?

Are you using 3G on a phone? Have you considered tapatalk? It provides a better mobile browsing experience.

I've been considering it. Just haven't had the motivation to pony up the money yet.

Really this is only an issue at my work computer when I'm on during a break. IE FTL.

Have you tried loading chrome? It loads without admin permissions.

I am unable to load any applications on my work computer. I just tried to install Chrome anyway and it got to 99% and then gave an error message. Security is pretty tight here. :)

Facebook image hasn't loaded for me in months now on the dark theme.

For the Facebook images probably need to be optimized /File size reduces to increase load time.

Alan, one simple solution for now would be to manually set the height/width properties of the image or #fb_loginbtn anchor link.

IIRC the plugin that makes it work is dead and I need to update it. I need to verify that and pull it completely if that's the case.
