DSMTuners has a section for build threads and I really like the idea. I like having everyone's projects in one section so I don't have to sift through all the random threads in General like I do right now. I think this would increase member participation in the build threads as well.

I like that idea!

It will need to have threads moved for a while until it catches on, but that would be awesome!

I was hoping people would you their blog space for project and build posts.

YOU can see blog post with the "projects" button at the top of the page.

The advantage to using the projects/blog feature for builds is people that read the log later. For someone that come to read the build log rather than having to skim through and get past random comments they easily follow the build progression. But their is no loss of comments. It leaves the flow in teh control of the person trying to make a build log.

A few other advantages:
You can work on the build log. Save and edit before making it visible.
You can control/restrict comments

DSMTuners had a feature like this for their build threads previously, but they eventually went back to basic threads due to the unpopularity. I do think both have their advantages. People are used to the stream of consciousness kind of flow that comes with build threads and I think that would be a tough adjustment for some. Also, when I do a search for New Posts, will build logs come up? People usually prefer to click the New Posts button and be done with it instead of having to search multiple sections.

I might try to merge all of my stuff into blog posts one day and see how it works out.

im going to revisit this...

alan would it really be that hard to make a build threads section? i just clicked on the 'new blog posts' tab and it says that there are no new posts.

i know i would move my build thread to the new section, and im sure others would as well.

I completely forgot about the blog/project page for a long time. Occasionally I look there and have posted a build thread, but it's definitely not something easily noticeable which doesn't matter to me for my build but more people would probably use it if they were aware of it. It's dead right now.
