I know I've seen that people have done this.. anyone know of a write up on how? I think this is something I might be interested in doing.. a lot cheaper then buying 1..

IIRC Greg made a guide, can't seem to locate it right now though.

There is a guide on here on how to use metal and do the Evil eye hood. I would recommend metal but if you dont have the tools you can do fiberglass, take the hood down to metal around the lights, tape up your lights with a few layers of tape, lay down 2 layers of fiberglass, sand the fiberglass smooth, lay down your body filler to blend the glass into the hood, repeat that last step till your happy. I have cianci widebody fenders so I can't tell you if doing the fiberglass method will make the hood match the OEM fenders or not. Here are pics from when I did mine. Mine is holding up fine but its just a show car so its not in any crazy weather.

for OEM hood, metal has GOT to be way easier than FG. trace pattern, tin-snips, and some scrap sheet metal is about all you need. getting a nice rolled-edge can be a little tricky, but overall, it will look better and the expansion rates between materials will NOT result in eventual cracking of paint.
