A guy I work with had built his own 1911 after taking a gun smithing class and I got the wild idea to try to build one myself.. This would obviously be a long long project and I do realize I'll probably spend more building one then I'd pay to just buy one but theres something about building your own gun that I find interesting. Has anyone here ever built their own 1911? How about any other guns? I'd probably end up buying a slide from Caspian for sure with the options they offer on their site. Any advice? Maybe a parts list of everything I'd need to buy and whats options are better than others. Theres a hand full of options on Caspians site but not a description of 1 over the other. I'd love to make this a new hobby and maybe some day I'll have my own badass 1911.

search the web for a video on how to do the assy. i used to have one until i lent it out and never got it back. its not to hard to do. i once bougth a 1911 kit from springfielld armory when they first had one for $29.95 .. that was a long time ago. check springfield armory as they may have a book or video on how to assy one..
