What parts are interchangeable between the two engines? In particular the timing parts?
What about cam/crank sensors, oil pumps, accessories, ect.

You just need a different timing belt.

I'm using 6g72 heads. Will I need the 6g74 cam gears?

You need a 6g74 timing belt for a DOHC engine. 72 or 74 heads are the same dimensions and the timing marks are identical.

I was under the assumption that the gears on the heads of a 6g74 were slightly different. Maybe a tooth difference.

Taken from the main page.
"CAM gears on 6G74 engine have timing mark 1/2tooth off, You can modify 6G72 gears but the 6G74 gears are easier
See my parts comparison page to see difference between gears."

So I should use stock 6g72 heads with the 6g74 cam gears?

It's what I would do, I would shoot Micheal a PM to see if he can grab you some from the junkyard. That is, if you don't have any.

I have both types of cam gears just in case. Last thing I want to do is ruin these expensive pistons from using the wrong gears.

Again, Yes you need the 74 gears, or as I have done with 3SX adjustable ones, Just set them forward 4deg, or on standards, Etch a new mark half a tooth forward.
The 74 heads are identical to 1993+ (2nd gen) NA heads. So if you value your TT heads, swap those on, or else they are just a standard 2nd gen 72 head.

Aren't you scared of adjustable gears? They have never walked or moved on ya?
Ok, I only have 6g72 heads and I'll just put the 6g74 gears on. One issue I will run into is the cam/crank sensors. My block has the crank sensor (94+) The 6g72 heads are 92 and have the cam sensor built in. I'd prefer just to run the cam sensor only. Need to read up on the AEM. From what I remember it can work with either setup.
