I have a tab open from there, but I have 4 open here, so I guess I am part of both. There is still a lot of good info there and seems some people have not made it here yet

TurboSinceBirth

I respond less and less over there and more on here because a lot of the new threads or ones brought over are here. It's easier to comment here and more people that need the help will be here. I keep going back to the other site to search old threads and whatnot occasionally looking at new posts. Until most of the information is transferred over to here I won't be able to drop the other forum. I wish there was a way you could download the whole forum database and integrate it into here.

Atrosity

Need the vendors to help promote the site. Pretty much vendors need to replace 3si with 3sgto where ever they advertise it.

BigTyla
09-19-2010, 01:01 AM
Vendors make the difference. Autoforums knows this and is gambling on that fact.

It's going to take some time, but we will get the info over here. But we will also need to come up with some new substance to really draw the crowd over.

Mikes2nd
09-19-2010, 01:05 AM
autoforums likes to lie about their online members... they even say things like maximum 1600 users ever online?

It make their stats look good to advertisers and people looking for info.

you can go to forums where they have no posts and no members and somehow they have 150 guests looking at nothing on their crappy forums... its obviously "fudged"

Alan92RTTT
09-19-2010, 01:43 AM
The guests are not "fudged" but on average 1/2 of them are search engines

Even so, there are substantial reasons for people to continue to visit 3si just to view threads, most noticeably with cars wanted/cars for sale.

It's going to take some time to curb the visits to 3si. We can't expect everyone to drop their visits on a dime, particularly if they still have ongoing business over there (partouts and the like).

Content is the key thing.

While it would be a copyright violation to go to another forum and copy posts that you did not make, there are other ways to get content here.

Know of a good thread someplace that works through a problem? Most useful threads wander all over to get to the result and it take time to ferret out the good information. Rather than trying to copy the posts write up the results in a concise easy to read manner.

I guess the 3swiki technically belongs to AF?

I could always take some of my posts and bring them over here. Not that many people care about ATX TT conversions. :p

Do I? I'll have to check with Alan on that.

I've been very busy lately as I just got a job a couple of months ago and moved into my first house two weeks ago. I'll have to tie up some loose ends around here before I ever go back to the full-fledged group buys I used to do.

Already thinking of getting back into the 3S game though. Scary...:D

We need more of a information database here. The members also need to be a little more helpful. Remember, 80% of the people there and here are looking for information, not to chit chat.

Atrosity
09-19-2010, 09:58 PM
Yeah, instead of googling your problems...ASK THEM. REPLY TO THEM. Don't just say search it no matter how dumb it is, the database needs to have answers for all the questions.

Lori
09-19-2010, 10:02 PM
I couldn't agree with this more... If you have the time to wait for an answer, don't go looking elsewhere for it.. Post it up and wait for someone to answer. It's the only way we'll get all the information over here. And we need to do it. We need to create the community we want - not the one that's shoved down our throats only so we can choke on it.

While I believe that you have to pay to play. As a community we need the small guys making parts and things. IMO I have to make sure my prices are reasonable to keep us going for the next 10 years.

I already signed up to be an "Independent" sponsor here. I had been trying for over a month on the other site to post a Group Buy and Sharkbait kept telling me it should work but he couldn't get it going. AF probably prevented it.

I think what Alan is doing here to enable the small guys makes a lot of sense :D

Give it a couple of days and AF will offer the same type of thing, just like with everything else Alan has done with this site... First the garage, then the ads, then changing the verification process, what next? An arcade? Independent sponsorships? That's why we have this thread - we have to step it up! The difference is that their changes won't last.. Eventually, they'll go back to their old ways.

Here's how I see this... Person A has a question. He/she searches and finds the answer on another site. Rather than posting it here, they're happy to have the answer. Person B has the same question, does the same thing, probably finds it on the same site... That site has now had several hits that we could've had here if we'd bother to post the question and the answer. So get busy, guys! Make this thing work! No snowball effects... Be proactive!

You need to change those headers... to something like "3000gt / Stealth / GTO the front page" to like 3000gt / Stealth / GTO Forums"...

Thats the main page.

DEFINATELY change the threads! You need to put 3sgto.org or something in the headline of the browser. Right now you are only showing the thread title... thats bad.

Bing hasn't hit the page yet, but you can keep an eye on it.

http://hubpages.com/hub/Optimizing-your-website-for-Bing

http://www.bingle.nu/results.php?type=www&query=3sgto.org

We need to hit the Searches... "Mitsubishi 3000gt forums"... things like that...

On that front page I see no "Mitsubishi 3000gt or Dodge Stealth" also... Or Mitsubishi GTO...

Rewrite that front page when you get time. The better description on the main page, i think the better chance to get in the searches.
