so i have not started a build thread on here for my talon and not to steal bigtylas thunder but heres alittle back story on the girl.
Purchased for 500$ a decent 93 TSI Auto with intentions of making a 10sec drag car out of it . Car was ready for the scrap yard in most peoples eyes, junk interior , engine was mostly in the trunk.

So i tore it down , everything out of the car completely . all suspension subframes everything came off . I have replaced everything unless noted
Suspension/Brakes/steering -
Kyb shocks
all new bushings on everything
manual steering rack
Rear toe fix
adjustable upper rear control arms
Front 92 3S TT brakes (rotors , Calipers, Hawk Hps Pads)
8 Point roll cage custom built.
5zigen fnoirc 17" rims

Engine -
2.0 Block .20 Over
Wiseco 9:1 pistons / W ross rods
FFWD Butcher crank (knife edged and lightened)
ACL race bearings
Slow Boy Stage 3 Head , 1mm over valves , ffwd springs and retainers , solid lifters
BC 288 cams , findanza gears.
Balance shaft delete.
l19 head studs , and lower end studs
South florida performance t3 mani
holset hx 35 7blade turbo
tial 38m wastegate w/ jays racing bumper exit kit
custom downpipe/ exhaust

(forgot the brand , custom fuel tank) fuel cell mounts in stock location and uses stock filler.

Tranny -
rebuilt by myself with IPT rebuild kit (uses more clutches ect )
shift kit , stall converter.

Body -
Had the hood , bumper and left fender replaced and repainted.

yea i read through youre thread yours looks good as well , i set out to build somethng the absolute best i could but as not many people have done. depending on how the engine reacts to everything i might slap some coil overs on it and be multi sport with it

ha ha i have kyb agx's on it already , those rims were on my 94 stealth back before i put the p45's on it . the whole reason the color scheme is green and bronze/gold is because i had those rims laying around and wanted to use them on this car

Yeah, should have noticed the big red shocks on the rear in one of your pictures.

I've got a set of 1G 3S n/a wheels from my old 3S waiting on my Talon should it need the extra width. Fits the front of 1Gs fine but the rear would need 5mm spacers from what I hear. Have yet to try to put them on myself.

hum thats odd must be a stock wheel problem my 17's on the talon clear everything no problem, u should look into the brake upgrade like i did its just some 100 dollar bracketsd and lets u bolt any 3s'tt to your front

I already had some n/a 3S rotors lying around from when I swapped drilled/slotted ones on my 3S back in the day, so I just got the matching calipers to swap on. They are an upgrade for the 1Gs. I just wanted something that would fit under the stock wheels.

i know right just have to find some time to get everything done lol installed a custom vw rad last week had to make all mounting tabs ect. sits where the a/c condensor sits since the turbo was cutting into the area for the stock rad.

it has fuel spark compression lol . turned out the timing was off alittle and then the plug wires were on the wrong coils. which i knew might be a problem because i have my own mount for the packs hard to tell which two went where. but i had it running today!!! fixed a tranny cooler leak and an oil leak. have to take my water pipe to get re brazed it was leakign but other than that seemed good

now i just need some rad fans :) so i can let the tranny warm up and get the fluid it needs , right now it seems to engage reverse immediately, but in first you have to give it some rpm , part of that is prolly the stall but i ran out of fluid. a health cooler line leak didnt help that cause any. part of it might be the stall converter as well its set to stall at 3500 rpm.

went to the dyno today..... let down .... only made 300 awhp and 240 ftlbs before my driveshaft decided the carrier bearings are shot. and we had to stop . sad day

yea hopefully bearings will be here by wends/thurs, have acouple little things to fix and back to the dyno the 6th .lol yea let me rephrase , 300 awhp at 4500 rpm cause he was shutting it down at 5 because of a vibation haha. and on just wastegate spring 14 psi. and if you guys have ever met chad at modified by kc before he is awesome , only charged me half for yesterday tuning will charge second half after next time . super forgiving of me fixing little problems that arise just a good guy.
earlier in the day he was mocking a stock honda he tuned to 170 whp. " watch out 170 furious horsepower, turns looks at my car and say lets make some power boys "

well its tuned. 450awhp and 380 ftlbs all the turbo would eek outa it we had the boost controller all the way backed out.

what all have you removed? my car (91 awd 5 speed) weighed in at 2800. its fully stripped with a pair of stock seats and i still have a rear crash bar but with your car having a cage and still 300 pounds lighter is awesome i want mine to get to 2500 with me in it and no cage so i was jw

lol thats not with me in it haha , i have removed everything ,gutted underside of dash pad thats the only real trim left on the inside , scrapped all the sound deadening off the floor, took off every little bracket ect i could , one wiper arm , pretty much anything i could came off

im 2800 w/o mei have door panels center consoul 2 seats and a dash. i only have one wiper too. the only thing left under the hood is my ps and the ac bracket. i dont have sound deadening either i wonder if 1gb cars are lighter then 1ga cars for some reason.

i have no door panels, window motors a/c or ps, manual rack , one corbeau seat and no center consol.... an no ebrake cables ect. hopefully will be gettin all glass done this year and switched to plexi

hell ya i built mine to run 12's for 2k and im at 1800 and i ran a 8.1 in the either my first time out on 25 pounds and pump gas and i now its on 30 pounds, e85 and i pulled some timing but i broke a shift fork before i got to go back to the track

i think it might be stock wastegate pressue but im running a tial 38mm with 16psi spring in it . which is really odd before when we had the car down their we were seeing 16psi before 5k rpm but now im not , idk.

yup it has the tank (a 4 gallon i think) and the hoses and pump. the intercooler has a 1g bov on it.

Ah only one tooth does not hurt anything ,and we made 450 HP with that so i think the.insides are still good .

i hate using it but the calculator for my wieght to mph in the 1/4 and most of the videos of simlar cars to mine all seem to be in the 350-425 to the wheels and the calculator says 370

Ive built a few/had a big hand in few good 4G63s in my time.... After owning a 3/s for 2 years, ive realized u can make them go fast for so cheap.. I took the money to power ratio for granted when i was in the DSM game.

i love it im just now to 2500 bucks and my best is a 11.9 on my first track event i think i can get it to an 11.7 the way it sits and with about 150 more bucks i can get down to 11.5

the launch really sucks I was at the top of third when I cross a quarter mile and thats wrapping it out to 9000 , went to reach for the overdrive switch in shut it down when I realized I just crossed the line . it's weird my cooling system issue seem to stamp from when I let off the throttle I don't know if my engine revving down in forcing too much water to to slow down too fast

put the stall converter in yesterday, man it launches hard!!! , but i think i have traced my cooling issue back to some sort of headgasket issue , so imma yank the head this winter and put a regular mls gasket in it i dont think the head liked the copper with oring in it . , and check the head etc . pain in the ass i know but oh well get it done right i guess

Well spent all afternoon 3-9 working on it , and its all back together sans turbo which I have plans for . No head warpage , could not even fit a .001 feeler gauge under anything , I did have one small concern their was a bright spot on the valve reliefs in a weird spot unlike valves contacting pistons or anything , it was shiny spot idk I should have taken a pic but after inspecting suspect valves and areas I deemed all was good and put it back.together

I'm hoping that this winter. With the 40 on it , fixed headgasket and a better tune we can break 550 HP or so , that and timing was off on last tune . I knew this year would be a trial / error / learning year for setting up the car but I didn't think it would be this bad

running into some clearance issues with the 40 ...... the turbine housing is hitting the block causing the flange to not come together a 1/6 of an inch or so . going to explore smome options

well got it back together, took it out for a spin only ran it to 25 psi, ran great got the idle smoothed out with some adjustments, was a good day , now i just need my header wrap spray to come in so i can finish that .

well little update their she sits under a tarp..... im goingto get an aluminnum radiator for her soon and re doing the suspension . Going to put some evo suspension on it . stock evo suspension spring rates are 100 pounds heavier in the front and 160 pounds in the rear and the bilsteins that i have found from the evo mr are a better shock than the agx i have on it . so looks like a win win with a little modification everything should fit right in and maintain stock ride height .

i just ordered stuff for a oil cooler setup, lots of guys say they dont need em on a dsm but i just dont feel comfortable without it . but since im crippled with a torn acl right now im getting my friend on here mr. smart to lend a hand fabbign up the mounts etc.

I don't know why this thought popped into my head, but how much do oil thermostats matter? I know the 3S has one factory.. and I assume the DSM probably did too but with the forward facing filter housing and sammich plate.. not so much.

I guess another one of those because racecar things. It would be open pretty much all the time anyways *shrug*.

I'm liking this build man, more radical than mine. I'm also rocking a 1gb Talon AWD. I am just shooting for low-mid 10s on a stock frame turbo. Been in the 10s before but that was on a 5 speed with a holset, 2.3, and many many many broken drivetrain parts.

Yeah I do believe it will be hard, but I know English Racing have done it with a FP 68HTA. That is a stock frame. Really awesome turbo.

Well got the new oil cooler setup all installed lines made etc , and new aluminum rad , twice as thick and dual pass ! The oil cooler is nice -10 lines , btw if anyone has any stock EVO suspension they wanna get rid of for way dirt cheap help a handicapped person out :)

Nah, 2013 is fine. I mean hell, it's been a few hours of labor from drivable since the end of 2012 it makes me sick. After all, I have started the car about 85920925 times without actually driving it.

well no goign to dyno anymore the piece of shit transsmission pump went out :rage: from what i can tell , drove the car this mornign just fine , went to put on trailer tonight wouldnt move. pulled trans lines off and nothing flowing to or from cooler.

Well that sucks, but at least you have nothing else really damaged. I mean, there's still fluid in the trans, but it's just not flowing, right?

correct, talked to a shop specializing in dsm trans today. i quote from him " every dsm that upgrades a stall will eat a front pump withing 200 miles unless they have the pump bushing machined looser to compensate for the extra heat from the stall making it expand and keeping the pump from locking up like yours has done " so they are cheking on getting me one and doing their "race prep" which is machining the bushing,increase the feed passages and put out more pressure to it .

dont suppose it would be right if i didnt update some pics :) found the culprit, the bad part now locating some parts to replace !
the first is the toast oil pump , :( the second is what caused it , a dowl pin not getting seated properly kept the block 1/8 lifted on the back side very hard to see. so it pre loaded the bearing in the pump she got hot and bobs your uncle !

did i ever mention this ythread is officially dead on here and real life ..... sad story but car got parted in about three weeks made about 75% recoup , and i ended up purchasing a car with 73k on it

I don't have very many pics, only 73k on the clock. Check out my garage on here. This is my second low mileage 92 tt pearl. White. This one I'm keeping lol. Black leather has a few little scrapes on front bumper and little things but overall very nice.

Only paid 7k , it was stocker than the pic when I got it, I did the vacation delete and fipk , dealer installed hitch and sunroof all were done at 500 miles along with extra tweeters and eight inch subs
