I found this thing sitting at a house in my town quite some time ago and since then I have never seen it move, change, or any footprints around it. So today I walk up knock on the door and as the people what the story was on it. It turns out it's their sons who no longer lives in town, and no longer wants the truck and hasn't had ant plans for or with it yet! I asked them if they were willing to part with it, and his parents happily replied "PLEASE! take this thing away from my yard!" We talked a little more about it and came to a settlement, because it's not in the best of condition and needs a few things, I managed to get them talked down to $1,500 :D

Well, here it is!

As far as I know it's 12" of suspension lift, 3" body lift, sitting on 40" tires. There's a healthy looking 305 sitting under the hood, and the body is in fair shape.

what year is it, i thought chevy quit putting the 305 in their trucks in the 90's...

...i only say that cause i had one in an 84 1/2 ton, and it was a DOG :(

other than that, nice find :)

It definitely looks like a mid 90's Chevy.. in pretty baby blue.

Winter time is one of the best times to go. :p

We have a great place to 4 wheel around here. I want to take my old land rover and fix it up for off road (if I get the cash). It's been years since I've done any off roading. There's a bunch of guys doing it at work so it's making me want to do it again.

I don't think I'll mind the 305 all too much. If I do, I'll just run it until I blow it up and put a 350 or better into it.

It's actually an 89, but has a newer style front end on it, I'm gonna say it looks like a 2001 at the front. I have a LOT of places to go mudding here, in winter and summer.

As stated, the 305 is extremely slow (think it only put out about 200 hp in my buddy's old 91 Camaro RS) and with those huge tires you'll need some extra motivation to really take advantage of them. That said, $1500 is a steal if the tires and lift kit are in good shape, you can always drop in a 350 for cheap.

Everything looks to be in very good shape, the only thing that I could find remotely wrong with the lift kit itself was one of the rear shackles was a slight bit bent, but it's nothing I couldn't fix if I really had to. The tires are also at around 60% which is still pretty good.
I have a 350 sitting in my shop right now that could go into it if really needed, I'm sure I could drop another $1,500 into it and sell it for an easy $5,000 if I decided not to keep it.

Well, the real question is what gearing the previous owner put in her...

...take her for a drive and see where the RPM sits at speed?!?

It doesn't matter now man :(

Well, it turns out it's too good to be true! :( I took the VIN number down and did a history check on the truck... It turns out it needs a MVI, that's one big headache I have no desire to get into with a truck this big. It'll cost me a lot in addons to pass the inspection, I'd rather keep the kind of money I'll need for that and put it into my GTO.

What's an MVI?

What's an MVI?

It's a Motor Vehicle Inspection. The British Columbia government is extremely strict with them and only a handful of shops are dealt the right to perform them, if they slip up and go easy on the vehicle an officer called a DOT road side inspector sees the vehicle, looks it over, and will pick it apart like crazy. If he sees the vehicle unfit to be on the road, he will punch the VIN number in, see when it was last inspected and where, if anything is suspicious about it the shop that did the inspection can be given a very hefty fine and possibly be faced with closure.

Because of all that a simple thing like a tear in the seat can cause a vehicle to fail the inspections... And on a first glance, there's a lot more than just a torn seat that I could see on that truck lol.

Aw, that blows...a torn seat...really?!?

Yeah man, Inspections here are completely exaggerated. I could bring my dads 2012 Dodge Ram pickup in there with a cracked headlight and they'd fail it...

I'm so glad we don't have to deal with bull shit like that where I live. We have ZERO

Edit: So these inspections are so bad that they basically total a vehicle?
