Hi everyone! I don't have a 3s, but I am lucky enough to see one of the most bad-ass Stealth's on the planet on a daily basis (Austin's green stock-turbo, 10 second beast!)

I take most of the pictures at STM (and I am working on updating the website for you all) so you'll probably see me randomly pop in with some images.

I've had a bunch of DSM's in the past, but this is my most recent car that Emery at STM decided it needed to be a 9-second, full weight, leather, A/C, navigation, Brembo, subwoofer, 141,000+ mile daily driver... :confused:

Basic run down: AEM EMS, GT3582R, E85, Buschur 2.0LR motor.

Here's the 140,000+ mile motor that came out. Looks good. Still has the cross-hatching. Most of it's life it was on 93 octane, it's only been on E85 for about 6 months (if that).

Last time I went down the track it was on the stock turbo... 11.6@123 (4th fastest stock turbo Evo this year :))

I'm not quite ready to handle a low 10. I'm not stupid. I weigh 106 pounds, if it starts to get weird up top...

I just wish the EVOs looked better which is why I went with a 3000GT although I have seen some well-done EVOs. I'd honestly probably go with a V8 and turbo it from there if I jumped ship to another platform. I love the rumble of a cam'd V8 and the sound of turbos.

586 HP was close enough to say "I have a 600 HP Evo..."

But it's much better to have the real number to back it up. After Emery did some more playing on the dyno, he hit the mark.

The goals with this car were:
1. 600 HP
2. 9 second pass

At 586 and 10.0, those goals were not met.

Seems everytime I'm making updates, I post one place and run off to work. So here's some catching up on this little, black machine:

Tested the new STM650 Camshafts:

These cams are named "650" because they are intended for Evo's making 650+ HP! We found about 40 HP on my car, and these are the same cams we tested on Ricer and stuck at 700 HP, we found 80 HP... just from the cams!

Driveability is awesome, I honestly didn't notice a difference down low at all. When we test something, we don't ONLY look at the peak HP and the numbers at the end of the track. There is MUCH more to "testing" than that. I am not a superstar 1/4 mile driver, but I DO put a sh!t-ton of miles on this car! Just because something makes more power, doesn't necessarily mean it's RIGHT!

So, basically one of the last factory pieces left on this car is the intake manifold, so we got the Skunk2 Intake Manifold installed...

I know Emery ran into a few issues with the manifold, I will let him answer any questions on that though. We decided to run the matching Skunk2 throttle body as well. THAT, I did notice while driving. The pedal was significantly stiffer (so now it matches the feel other 2 pedals).

But the drive was great. I drove all the way to Ohio and back. No stalling, no studdering (I had some seriously nightmarish experiences with a huge throttle body on the blue evo a LONG time ago!) but this was just fine!

I have to admit, I was in the office the other day and I heard something start up in the shop and move... I'm thinking, damn, what IS that? Oh, it's my car :) She sounds B. A. D. :)


So, now at 660 HP, we slapped on the snow tires for the 250 mile trip to Thompson Dragway, comfortable in my leather seats, a bit chilly, so I had the sunroof cracked and the heat on. My navigation leading me turn by turn, HID's bouncing, lighting the world, satellite radio rockin BPM the whole way. We get there and quick change into the BBS and drag radials, and Emery hits the track.

We never even had the chance to run the QTP's, the drag radials did just fine. I put 26,000 miles on this car in under a year, so the next plan is to actually downgrade from 600 HP to 400 HP and make it pretty and drive it all over creation. At 149,000 miles already, this will probably be the last year I own it. Probably sell it in the Fall and look for a mint, low mileage Evo IX :)

But we are still modding and changing and keeping the purple!

Damn austin, I wanna see the 1g build and weight reduction pics. I want some secrets for real on stripping the 1g. I have mine gutted as much as I can think, but I know you have secrets and go nuts (even more nuts than me) for weight reduction. The only things I have left are a full dash, heat, roll up windows and a stock front end (no tubes) The rest is gutted and cut out. Doors, interior, gas tank, ect. The only other thing is that I dont have any carbon fiber, lexan, or lightweight rims/tires. I cant see spending money on CF before more power.

Oh and is it AWD of FWD?, manual or auto?, year, color? WHat record you looking to break? Kiggly fwd and gas record (8.2), sheps awd meth record(7.7)? awd gas record (8.63)? stock block record(9.9)?

The Black VIII is sold. It was a serious car for sure and got it done, but it really needed a paint job. 150k+ miles of road racing and track/salt/snow was not good to that Mitsu paint.
