Then go to MY ACCOUNT and GENERAL SETTINGS. There is a combo box in the middle of all the settings. Don't forget to SAVE before you exit the page :)

eh I dunno about the ads being the ones emailing you. He is probably getting emailed every time someone replies to one of his postings

I had it set to "through my control panel only" but was still getting notifications. I just did it again and resaved. Let's see if it stops. And yes, i didn't see all that stuff in the top right corner because the banners were blocking it.

I noticed the default setting is "automatically subscribe with email notifications" to threads..
I also found I had to explicitly unsubscribe from each thread I had posted in after I made the change to my profile.

Ahhh, I'm having the same problem!

So do we have to unsubscribe to stop the email notifications?

Yes, it's annoying.

you can change the settings for the threads you have already subscribed to. Just have to go to the show all subscribed threads.

I had to do this also. Change it to ""through my control panel only" then after i saved i had to go and unsubscribe from all previous threads. Good thing is i was only subscribed to 1 thread.

Yea, I wouldn't turn off notifications completely.... Just go unsubscribe from the intro thread.

you dont have to unsubscribe from the previous threads that were an email subscription. Just click "View All Subscribed Threads" then click the "Notification" box, at the bottom of the page the Selected Threads drop down and change it to "Through My Control Panel Only"

If you have GMAIL you can set up a label system to categorize which emails go where, think of it as an auto sorting filter system.

So here's the next question:

On 3si, when I got email notifications, when clicked on, the link in the email notification would take me immediately to the newest unread post in he thread.
On 3sgto, the link in the email takes me to the first page of the thread, which means I have to wander around trying to figure out the last post I'd read in that thread before proceeding to the newest posts.

How do I change this to the 3si type of notification?

It should take you to the last post. I had issues with one thead where the link would take me to the start but I worked out it was hotmail not seeing the whole link cus there was a ( in the link. Every other thread is fine for me.

forward the email to alan@3sgto.org?

For me it works fine at home cus i'm using windows live mail. It only happens when you open the email in web based hotmail. Forwarding the email prob won't help you cus it will appear fine for you. Unsure about bluemax though.

hotmail is probably breaking the link onto two lines. and when you click you only get the 1st part.

Yeah it is. the first half is a blue hyperlink like a normal link and the rest is treated like normal text.

WHen that happens you need to copy/patse the two parts into the browsers address bar separately then press enter.

GTOJOE

have been doing that. just highlight the whole thing and paste. no need to do it in 2 parts.

Yeah, it appears most threads are fine except for that seniors thread.
