91 Talon TSI Turbo AWD AUTOMATIC $2600.00

I'm offering this car here before it hits e-bay. This was my wife's daily driver, and she needs a four door. The car does run, but needs a starter. Because the car is an AWD Turbo Automatic, the starter is not listed in any of the computers at local parts stores. She needs a car before I leave to go to work in another state for a month at a time. That is the only reason I am loosing money on this car and selling.

I tried using a starter for a N/A automatic from autozone and it would randomly barely engage the flywheel. The car did start, but the autozone starter was not engaging consistently. I took it out and received a refund, but they had already shipped by core out. (it had a weak motor and sticky bendix) I should have noted the numbers stamped on the snout. I'm going to set-up a 32 bit computer tomorrow so I can run the mitsu Caps program and try to find the starter by vin.

The car has a bunch of suspension work completed, all that is left is the cradle bushings, sway bar bushings, (which I have) tie rod ends, and ball joints. The interior need to be refinished and upholstered. The body is solid with no rust, but has a dent in the passenger b-pillar. All the axles look ok, rear boots are old, but not broke.

The engine is original and leaks oil here and there. I have an engine gasket kit I am including with the car. The valve cover has spider cracked like many of them do. It causes the spark plug valley to get a bit oily, but does not leak into the plug galleys.

The trans is solid with no leaks, it shifts fine manually, but the MAF is bad and it makes the trans try to skip shift to 4th to soon, if you disable OD it shifts normally. Once it is up speed, overdrive engages just fine. The trans has an updated mitsubishi OD clutch pack for a minivan. I purchased the pack new from gossett mitsubishi of memphis, and installed it a little over 20k miles ago.

I put a new alternator on it less than 1500 miles ago. If I could locate a starter for it, I would probably be driving it from TN to alabama right now. The car handles well, the tires are drivable, but probabbly will need to replace two of them in less than 10k miles, and all four in less than 20k. The wheels are straight with no curb rash.

I will try to take some pictures soon.

I would trade for a DOHC 3/S auto.

I would trade for a 3/S turbo with a rod knock.

I would trade for an AWD 3/S with a trans problem.

I would trade for a decent galant.

Here is a list of replaced parts.

91 Talon TSI Turbo AWD AUTOMATIC $2600.00

Tein Springs

KYB adjustable shocks

Energy Suspension poly bushings installed, front and rear.

matching poly cradle and sway bar bushings included, need to be installed. (factory engine mounts)

clarion CD player with 3.5mm front aux input (headphone jack style)

cross drilled and slotted rotors all the way around

EBC Green Stuff pads all the way around

new LF axle 20K ago.

set of core TSI wheels (they hold air and drive, but that is about it)

ADR 17"x8 wheels, tires 30-40% left. <-- $500 off without wheels

Factory trim:

grey interrior

power everything

4 wheel ABS

AC (needs to be evacuated and recharged) worked this summer off of cheap autozone recharge kit.

Drivetrain: All factory, and no modifications.

Has paint/body neglect issues from previous owner.

Has engine surge at idle, mas air flow probably needs to be replaced

Oil has slow drip, seeps here and there. I'm including an engine gasket kit at no charge,

Trans shifts through all gears, it does strange things due to the maf

driveshaft carrier bearings are loose, like most 140K mile DSMs, but not noticeable

Body is in paintable condition, there is one large dent in the passenger B pillar, and some odd screw holes (kids were driving it before I owned it) Front bumper cover has break through LF lip.

Has 94 laser tail lights, modified to fit the car, needs final fit, and finishing (have 1 passenger original tail lens)

How it runs/drives?

Corners beautifully

Engine needs valve seals, puffs a bit after sitting a day or two, but clears up a few seconds after idle

Turbo boosts cleanly, gauge does not work due to maf

Make no abnormal noises, ticks, rattles, knocks or otherwise

Buy for a neat daily beater, autocross racer, full race car, or cheap parts car.

Starter went bad, left my wife stuck at walmart, she gets upset over these things and now the car has to go so I don't have to worry about her freaking out over nothing. She needs something with 4 doors anyway.

I drove this car from Camden TN to Smyrna TN for months on a weekly basis to work. With a new starter installed, I would feel comfortable driving this car anywhere.

If you can find a starter, I will put it in for free and you can drive the car home!

Pictures soon....

If you are interested in parts, or just the new/replaced parts, PM me and we might work out a deal.
