Sometimes it isn't such a bad thing to ask questions around here. It helps build up info on this site + most of the people around here are veterans so you mostly get good answers. I pretty much brought most of my info here, things I thought was good stuff anyway (build threads, AWD conversion).

I think you're being fed incorrect information from the parties that were removed from NW3S; the reasons behind their bannings are between them and NW3S and will not be gone into here; but, in every case, it was not a decision made lightly by the staff. Please understand this.

As for any 3SGTO censorship on NW3S, also not completely correct. There was a short period when our moderators all decided to remove any derogatory posts that were put up in reference to the 3si vs 3sgto members feud. It was decided to not feed into the negativity or animosity that was at one time becoming rampant at each site. So perhaps you mean those type posts that were removed as being censored. I'm certain we aren't the only localized forum that did not want those type of posts being put up; we made the decision and stuck to it. No one ever asked any moderator or admin, privately or publicly, why a post was edited or removed, individuals effected made their own assumptions and we cannot be held accountable for their misinformation and lack of fortitude to maturely ask for an answer. In short, we removed posts that were inflammatory and not necessary as is standard at nearly every forum on the net.

Actually he miss quoted the reason "I" thought I got banned for, which I think was due to pm'ing a member about a car lift. While talking with him about it (on the phone), I asked him to join the coast run. He wondered why no thread on the site, and I said it was due to the rule that if it were a NW3S run, non 3s members could not be involved...

I told him the info about it was on a smaller local to Portland site, he joined, I was banned that quick. Guess I should have told him the info was on here, my bad...

So why was I banned? I was never told nor contacted, but I would guess poaching members to the tiny 20 member site for the Coast Run.

I don't think AF's policies would have been viewed as that bad overall, EXCEPT for the mods who delighted in being heavy handed about enforcement and had personal vendettas. A level headed mod staff would have gone a long way towards keeping the peace (and keeping long time members.) My main gripe with AF is that even after multiple people told them just who their new moderators were, they declined to listen to the membership and put those idiots in charge anyway.

Funniest part was, I initially got a "timeout" for 3 days. the class of 09+ are all oblivious. those few lucky enough to have gotten whiff of 3sgto around the "Great Censorship Wall of 3si" have joined here.

collectively, the quality of new content on 3si has deteriorated--and is largely buoyed by older (03-05) members who either haven't fully given up (eljefefx), or are probably siding with 3si out of spite for one/multiple parties now affiliated with 3sgto (gatecrasher).

Well... It IS a dying platform. Got my windshield replaced the other day and the shop owner actually came out himself to do the work as he was short staffed that day, said he hadn't seen a 3S in good shape in years. Eventually, 3SI, this forum, and all the other forums dedicated to this platform will see their active membership decline as fewer and fewer of the cars are on the road. Someday, we'll probably see a forum dedicated to all the 90's Japanese supercars combined... because that will be the only way to have enough forum members participating.

No, a lot of the long time members unassed the area during the split (if they were not banned). It wasn't that it was a dying platform or they moved away from the 3/S... 3si was/is effectively driving off members.

No, I'm referring to a ton of old timers who never post on there anymore, some have sold their cars, others have just lost interest. People were saying for years (long before AF even owned the forum) that the site was getting worse, and that was due to the long time members leaving, and newbies who got a 3S as their first car, trashed it/wrecked it, and quickly dropped off the site as well. When you've got a guy like Jeff Lucius (who I bet most new members from 2008 and on don't even know) just quit posting and stop updating his site, there isn't much hope for long term membership from newer guys who don't really have a vested interest in the platform, they just happen to own a 3S.

AF decided $$$ > community. alan resigned & created this site. everyone that seemed to give more than 2 shits about this platform jumped ship as well. AF instituted a massive censorship program which not only remains in effect to this day (at least for this website's address), but also removed the ability to edit self-created content for several weeks (possibly longer). yes, that's right; AF's knee-jerk reaction was that people might delete things they'd posed on 3si--so they eliminated the ability of ANYONE to edit posts.

for a while, most of us that still posted there (yet had come here) had sinking ships in our avatars. people that did so were often perma-banned with little cause. stating the litany of problems that AF had perpetrated on the forum was not warmly greeted either (whereas any consumer-driven company would regard such feedback as incentive on where to improve). lastly, because AF relies heavily on david to run things--they've completely yielded power to his whims. hence, NG is not advertised over there, because he's decided to respond to alan and lori with a temper tantrum...rather than mature conversation.

the 3si loyalists are, again, either blind to reality or leg-humping on the people running the show over there. the platform loyalists are essentially all on 3sgto, and many/most don't post useful information on 3si at all (myself included).

p.s.
dunno if the numerical url address of 3sgto can get by the censor over there. might be something to try (keep it secret though, david's a loyal AF ball-licker because they put him in charge).

I believe you can easily edit posts until they get backed from the servers which probably happens every night. If you do it soon enough you don't even see an Edited By message
