It's sad they are having to kill those animals because of the caretaker letting them loose. :(

Seems like they would have access to tranquilizer guns around a place like that. I understand they don’t want to take any chances with the public but I hate that they are just killing them off.

"One person who tried to steal the body of a dead cat Tuesday night was arrested and will be charged."
Gimme a friggen break, if it was so important than why kill it. If he actually gets charged with something than this justice system is even more fail than I thought already possible.

I don't get it? The dude tried to run off with a mountain lion after the local red neck cops shot it?

Stuffed and mounted, a mountain lion can probably fetch big bucks.

Exactly. And just because cops are in a remote area doesn't mean they will have tranquilizers. A lot of times they aren't even allowed to have stuff like that and it has to be brought in from zoos or the like.

State Patrol doesn't carry tranq guns... You have 50 animals (1 eating a human and each other, 2. meanacing, 3 about to enter back woods in the dark)...
Do you wait 2 hour for tranquilizer guns, waiting for some lion or tiger to eat a kid... or start shooting?
Yeah the tiger carcasses along can fetch some huge cash... I MEAN Huge cash. 500,000$ in fact in China(yes head on out to Walmart and send that money oversea's) :)
article is from 2007 but don't worry they are still worth a ton.

Just recently China placed some "restrictions" on the practice but prices will skyrocket... But I think we know how well China restricts its own profitable practices.

jack hanna from the columbus zoo said they did the right thing in shooting them. it sounds like the state was going to take the animals . he made a statement about 6 weeks from now the problem with the cats would of been handled. it could be the keeper knew his animals were going to be confiscated ..

No No No, it seems the animal refuge would have the tranquilizers, Not the redneck cops. Is this guy the only one to work this place?

Don't get me wrong, I understand. There is a tiger reserve near my house. I hope they are better equipped to deal with something like this.
