Lets get my car finished!

So, I've got the engine done.. need 1 more part so i can attach the tranny back on but heres where im at.. I need the hub and knuckle set up all reassembled so I can push my car up to the garage. (The guys who took my engine out took it all apart and I wasn't there so I have no idea what Im doing)

Anyone who wants to help me with the hub and knuckle set up would be great, once I get it done and the car moved I will post up more for what I need done..

definitely need pics. but the hub attaches to the knuckle with 3 bolts. the knuckle itself sits on the lower balljoint and up into the strut. pix will help a lot

I need to attach the control arm and stuff so I can push the car up to my garage.. heard you had to remove the axle to install the engine so if its push able without it then no need to install yet..

5th picture down: Stealth 316 - Raising and Supporting the Car (http://www.stealth316.com/2-raisecar.htm) this is the part of the "Y" closest to the jackstand. it attaches wit ha U shaped bracket and 2 bolts

the other part hanging down (the lowest part) swings up toward the middle of the car and a bolt goes through it to hold it in place

Put the axles in if you are going to be pushing the car. If not, the wheel bearings can separate.

It CAN happen, its very unlikely. I personally wouldn't just because I wouldn't want to deal with the axles flopping around while I push the car.

its a decent distance from where the cars at to where its going.. probably close to 1/8 of a mile or something like that.. anyone know any guides to installing said axle and the rest? I've read that the axle usually connects with the tranny?

dan... man, you gotta go out and look at stuff before you ask questions. its about as straight forward as it gets.

stick the axle through from the inside (center of engine bay) going to outside, then you put on the big washer and castle nut. the only reason to install it is to hold the hub assembly together (that nut and washer). they are going to be flopping around as you roll the car though. the other end of the axle DOES go in the tranny but since there will be no tranny to put it in, its going to just have to hang and flop as the car rolls.

The car can just be sitting on the ground without axles and cause bad wheel bearings. It doesn't even have to roll.

We actually have stub shafts that we use in customer's cars in case we need to move them without axles in there.

dan its about as simple as sex.. simply shove your shaft in the hole.. sometimes you may need to wiggle it around.. and work it in a little..

and do the same thing on the other end.. then put a giant NUT on it for the big finish!..

Ok, so i got the control arms on, the sway bar bolts won't go on tight, its appears when i turn the nut the bolt turns as well.. Also, it was pointed out to me that the axles will be hanging loose since they connect through the tranny.. Will it be okay for sure to push my car on tires with the axles not connected to each other?!

errr not connected to each other? you mean not pushed into the gearbox? or not tightened into the wheel bearings?

I share GZP's suggestion of keeping the axle's in, I've seen a few pictures of separated bearings, they are not as strong by themselves as you might think, and you never know what the last douche who had your car might have done(jumped over) with your car.

look on the "bolt" part of it. there is a spot to put on a wrench to hold it still while you turn the nut. a 10mm wrench if i remember correctly

ok? probably. just dont push the car very quickly. if there was a way to keep them off the ground that would be best. truthfully, the best solution is to take the axle boot apart and just have the end of the axle bolted onto the hub so you can keep that bearing in check as well as not have flopping axles. but that is extra work to do all that too
