Did you read about the car falling on sergechronos on the "what I did today" thread? Dude is lucky to be alive. Looks like he made the mistake of using one of his grandfather's old jack stands and it collapsed on him.

I'm being a bit selfish and trying to have my own car ready before I stir the idea up. :)

I almost never go to the other site anymore.

Having a car fall on me is a fear of mine though. When I do a lot of work I have a big wood chunk under the car in case the jack stands fail. I never get under a car just with a jack.

Sucks about dude, I don't think I know him but I hope he is OK.

He was nice enough to post pics of the damage to himself, we of course poked at his wounds a bit for fun. His family refused to let him back under it, a pro shop is going to re-seal his oil pan. He had installed 91 gaskets because he had a 91 car. Won't ever do that again I'm sure.

Speaking of honorary members, wth has Scotty been lol. I'm surprised he has not visited us lately. You are the "mod elect" Paul, I'm pretty sure your approval is all that is needed for anyone to be here lol.

Granny, my wife's 91 AT AWD TSI starter just crapped out, is there an easy way to pull it? I've only seen a handful of starters mounted above the center line of the crank.

What do you think said car with adjustable KYBs, tein springs, energy suspension bushings all the way around, 17" wheels tucked in tight (had to roll the front inner lip just a bit) barely clears the struts, auto awd trans, and every option minus a sunroof, is worth? The engine is all factory, runs good, needs valve stem seals (puffs on initial start after sitting a few days), leaks oil here n there. Trans shifts good, new OD clutch pack 30k ago. The interior is out for refinishing, (converting to black) has new speakers all the way around, clarion CD player. Chassis is straight, has odd dents here n there, paint is trash. Has complete factory TSI moldings/spoiler. Color is the dime a dozen red w/black top.

Dwains kevlar belt decided to disintegrate down the middle, now he has two kevlar timing belts. ;) It didn't jump time though. Its is on the "what I did today" thread with pics. I did a coulple of shirts for the 3sx T contest. You can probably get to it my removing the battery and IC piping. Then remove the down pipe and drop it from underneath the car.

Helps alot, my FSM is a bit vauge about the starter. I could only find mention of it in the trans removal section.

I'm at the point where I am ready to sell the car, running or for parts. Sad because I was committed to finishing the car.

sweet! can you tell me where I can get an AWD auto turbo 1g starter? Autostoned couldn't find it, the turbo awd auto does not exist in their computer. From what I've read, it has a unique starter due to being auto and turbo. (has a weird flywheel size/tooth count) I'm probably wrong, but I do know the N/A auto FWD starter that looks identical (slight p/n difference) didn't work today. It barely engages the flywheel, it did manage to catch and start the engine 4 times. After I let the car warm up, it would not re-engage the flywheel.

yea, this one has kicked my ass. DSM peeps aren't very helpful on their forums. I get conflicting information on every sight. I think there was a p/n on the starter case, but it wasn't a standard mitsu number even though it was a mitsu part. Autostoned has it now, so I don't know, mistake on my part....

Yeah it's cold, and raining, it sucks! I wish it was warmer for sure. We had some beautiful weather last week and the beginning of this week but I've been working 11-12hrs a day. My 1st day off and the weather is in the 40-50 with rain. :(

I can't remember exactly, I made the cookville meet, and was still drilling for the national guard in alcoa TN, (eatin wings with paul every chance I had) ehh, I don't remember anything epic that year. Now in 98 (I think) when the ice storms hit, I rode to camden on the highway with my buddies on ATVs. That was some real snow. I miss events that shut down salt truck operations because there was no use trying. :) I have no clue about 09/10 I was in iraq.
