We recently modded a stock hood for the evil eye mod. Here are some pics to show you how it's done.

First we cut out some sheet metal to the basic shape needed.

http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/s720x720/312092_10150474587644148_691634147_11063581_781199 758_n.jpg

Next we grind off the paint around the area so we can weld the sheet metal to the hood.

http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/299038_10150474588659148_691634147_11063583_194843 3386_n.jpg

Now we clamp the sheet metal into place and get ready to weld.

http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/310839_10150474590644148_691634147_11063587_200314 8898_n.jpg

Throw a couple of tack welds on it. Spaced apart so the hood doesn't warp.

Fill in with more weld.

A picture of both sided welded up.

Ground the welds down and added some filler to smooth out the transition. We also fixed a bunch of other dents in the hood, but I don't have a picture.

Stripped paint down off the rest of the hood and primed it to get ready for paint.

Painted and installed.

Nice work! Never even thought of modifying a stock hook to make it an evil eye. Guess it's a bit cheaper than buying a whole new FG or CF one and doesn't look that difficult.

This is the only thing that makes me want a 2g front end.

when you guys do this does the hood hang over the head lights or do you have to modify the head lights. sorry it may be a noob question but i havent seen one of these in person yet

Awesome idea doing it to a OEM hood. Hood shocks FTW. ;)

If you could make this work with 99 headlights and the hood still line up with the fenders/bumper (w/o any gaps, fits like original) I would so buy one from you. Oh and there could be no "rubbing" on the headlights (got to keep those things looking mint when the hood is raised.

Halo needs more glue :p

Amazing goop FTW!

Not sure how it would look with humps for the 99's.

We could probably form the sheet metal over the 99 headlights, but it would be a bit of a bitch. I have a dented up stock 2G hood (I think) that I could try it out on. I'll have to take some pics of the under side of this hood. The addition looks factory. We seam sealed the edge of the hood to the added sheet metal.

We charge about $500 to do it (including paint) so it's definitely cheaper to go this route.

Damn that looks sick! Is it standard on this mod to make the lip (over the 99 headlights) variable thickness to adjust for the bubbles? It looks really good the way you did it.

Damn Hans... didn't mean to steal your thread. However, if you make it work with stock hood, 94/96 3kgt bumper, and 99 headlights LMK!

Once I get my Austin America painted, I'll have my body guy work on a good for 99 head lights.

I used 16 gauge steel.... same stuff I used on my 3000gt trailer. I'll try to snap some pics of the bottom of the hood for ya.

If the CF hood is painted, no problem. Just use fiberglass... or we could do it in CF with a fiberglass underside. Of course the area would have to be painted though.
