I just installed a BluRay drive (Samsung SH-B123L) in my Gateway SX2800-03 (within which I installed an ATI Radeon HD-4650 video card) ... which I thought would be sweet, since I just picked up an LG 42LK450 42" LCD 1080p HDTV.

I didn't realize that the drive didn't come with its own software. So, I didn't look into codecs, drivers, and firmware before purchasing the BluRay drive. Thinking it wouldn't be too hard to find such things, I rented the Iron Man BluRay tonight to give it a spin ... I couldn't find any freeware codecs / drivers / etc ANYWHERE!!! :die:

I had to download a trial version of CyberLink PowerDVD 11 ... :shake2: ... from the looks of it, I'll need AVCHD, MPEG-4, VC-1, etc codecs. Or whatever.

Does anyone know how to get ahold of those? Or a good free bluray software I can download?

Thanks!!

Try vlc media player. It's free and I think it plays blue ray.

Don't think VLC plays bluray. If your desperate I can upload an iso image of powerdvd for bluray [licenced for a Samsung drive to]. But there are many "cracked" versions that can be downloaded. Alternatively I can upload [for a very short period of time] a cracked version of powerdvd9 for bluray. This will be the quickest option.

Note: VLC will play the individual .m2ts files on a bluray disc but will not read the discs structure like a normal dvd.
