I'm replacing head gaskets shortly on my 96 DOHC NA, is there anything else that I should do/replace/take a look at while I've got the heads off?

PCV valve, VSS, etc.? I saw in the manual last night that I shouldn't reuse valve stem seals after having removed them, another thread indicated that they were basically no good after 100k.
I bought the car at 139k or so three years ago and am at 170k now, did the most recent 60k service at 161k (car jumped timing after having attempted to start it up for the first time after it sat for 2 months, this was 15 months ago).

Any other gaskets, etc. that should be swapped out while putting everything back together?

I've done a few searches on the head gaskets, etc. but a majority of the results that come up are people diagnosing overheating problems (what I've got) that end up as blown head gaskets, nothing particularly on other suggested/good practice items to take care of while everything is taken apart, etc.

Unrelated: What about putting in 3rd gen lifters, good time to do that while I've got it taken apart? I do have the lifter tick >_<

I would buy a full head gasket set. It will come with every gasket you will need (even VSS). It is a good idea to do 3rd gen lifters if yours were ticking. If they weren't loud, don't bother. Just soak them in some diesel or auto trans fluid to clean them out.

Thanks! I was looking at grabbing this kit (Engine Gasket Kit Complete DOHC Non-OEM 3000GT/Stealth*-*Mitsubishi 3000GT*/*Dodge Stealth Parts (http://www.3sx.com/store/comersus_viewItem.asp?idProduct=26867)) as it looks like it includes everything (minus the 3rd gen lifters, of course).

While I've got it apart, is there anything that should get a little extra attention paid to it? Other than the standard "take your time, and if you don't know, ask" type stuff

Do NOT get the non OEM chinese gasket set.

Get an OEM Mitsu set from Mentor Mitsu Mentor Mitsubishi Parts (http://trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?siteid=213934)
