No, not twin turbos.

We are 8 weeks along. :) We've been checking up on them weekly since 5 weeks but have waited until today to spread the good news to everyone. Wife is already using it as an excuse to upgrade from the Fit! She's a schemer for sure. Hard to believe I'm going to be a dad.

Oh wow! Congratulations! Do you know if they are girls or boys or a girl and boy?

Testing for that occurs around 18-20 weeks, so we have at least 10 weeks before we will find out.

Hoping for one boy and one girl, but I'll take whatever I'm blessed with. My mother thinks they are both boys and my mother-in-law thinks it's two girls. I don't feel like it will be two boys. We will see though.

The reveal party will certainly be interesting, especially if it's one and one. Pink AND blue cake!

Awesome! When can you find out if they're identical or fraternal twins? Also at 18 weeks?

Thanks guys!

They are fraternal. If you look closely at the photo, you'll see that they have their own placentas. That's how we were able to find out at 5 weeks. Exciting stuff!

I'm a fraternal twin. I hated it growing up...plus my mom never wanted twins...Congrats :)

Woah. How long were you guys trying? How did you know you were ready? You guys aren't 30 yet are you? I'm battling the internal struggle between wanting to be selfish and wanting to be a young dad.

Regardless, awesome. Congrats!

Congrats! Twins good luck with that:) We had "irish twins" for our 2nd and 3rd. (less than 1 year apart).

Kids and 3SGTO must be contagious. We just found out we are expecting our 4th. 540 is getting traded back for another minivan:)

Adam, stop being a wimp. We had 3 by the time I was 25. 4th before 32!

I'll be 26 in November. My wife is 25. We were trying for over a year and my wife was diagnosed with endometreosis in February. She had surgery to treat it and then we went to a reproductive endocrinologist to assess our situation. Within our first month of seeing him we were pregnant!

I understand the feelings you're going through. I kind of went through the same thing for awhile. My approach to our attempts to get pregnant were "If we get pregnant, great! If not, it's okay for now because we're young. Plus it will give us more time by ourselves." But the more time I had to reflect on it the more I realized I was ready to have kids. Sure, there are sacrifices you have to make for children, but everything I've seen suggests they are much more of a blessing than a curse. The people that view their children as a curse have an entirely wrong state of mind.

Well, there's also the population-replacement rate to consider. :p

You're doing a bang-up job, Ty - couple more sets of twins should be worth a medal, I think.

Tiff and I have been trying for 8 months now. I just got my self tested yesterday and waiting for results. haha

We're a bit older than you and your wife, but we're still trying to have our kid before Tiff hits 30 (her goal).

Does she want to try before 30 for personal reasons or because of the numbers game? I know there are a lot of studies out there suggesting that fertility is harder for women over 30. My wife has just always wanted to be a mom and couldn't stand waiting anymore, but she always had that statistic in the back of her mind.

Multiples are a lot more common when going through treatment. Watch out! :)

Good luck John! I feel for you guys that have to work at this. All I had to do was look at my wife and she was pregnant. You guys won't believe how fast your kids grow up too. It seems like yesterday when I was your age and now I'm >50 and the kids are all in college or working.

The numbers game. The 30 for her because of what you mentioned. Also, we want to be younger parents. Twins already runs in my family, so we are wanting to avoid treatments unless we have to. All depends. I'm waiting for testing results if I'm good she will get tested once we hit a year of trying. She is home testing and everything should be good so we're thinking it is just a timing issue?

Yeah, our friend (Tiff's matron of honor) is having their first in about a month. The first month they tried boom. I'll admit, I didn't want it to happen that fast because the trying is fun, but 8 months is getting a little long. haha

I'm afraid of that whole time going by so fast thing. Tiff and I will have been together for 10 years this January. Time is going by to fast.

BigTyla, it is good to know others who it took longer for. Congrats again on the twins!!

It could be. One of the first things a reproductive endocrinologist will do is test for ovulation via blood testing. It's an extremely accurate method. That way you'll know the best time to...well, you know. :)

A guy my dad went to basic training with was a Mustang nut. When he found out he was having a girl he decided to name her Shelby and went out and bought a 68 Shelby Mustang to begin restoration on for her 16th birthday.

About right now that girl should be 18... hmmm, now thats got me thinking. I need to look her up. LOL

I figure the last thing they need for a first car is something with 300+chp, but we will cross that bridge when we get there. Hell, maybe they'll be able to handle it responsibly at that age (not likely, but stranger things have happened).

We already have first and middle names for them. Hudson Tyler and Hughston Thomas. The alliteration is merely a coincidence; we aren't that vain. :p
