I'm probably 75 miles from the center.
I was sittling at my desk when the seat of my chair started vibrating and the building started making cracking poping noise.
I was leaning over trying to see outside because I though it was a tornado. By the time I was starting to get worried it stopped.
One of my techs was at home having lunch and he thought a truck had hooked up to his trailor and was pulling it off...LOL

I’ve always wanted to be in an earthquake. :lo5l: Just not a bad one....

Its bad news that this earthquake was felt so far away. When a big one comes, not if but when, the damage will be widespread.

felt it at work in alexandria, va. they made everyone evacuate the building. Doors swung open and a few things toppled over. Definately could have been worse. Just heard that the ceiling at Union Station metro in DC collapsed.

South Western PA and it was felt here. I was in my bosses office which is built almost like a mezanine (sp?) level of offices. They are supposed to be temporary type offices bolted to an outside wall and suspended in front by poles bolted to the floor.

Anyway, it started and I grabbed ahold of the desk because I thought maybe I was dizzy and was gonna pass out, then I looked at my boss and saw the reaction on his face and I looked over and saw his pop sitting there with the liquid rocking back and forth and knew something was up. At first we thought someone drove a forklift into one of the poles and ran onto the catwalk to see 2 others come out of their office looking for an explanation too. This wasn't my first earthquake but it was just odd.

Had to laugh though. The one guy Justin came out of his office and seen all of us and said "Ok, so I am NOT nuts? Everyone else felt that?"

I felt it slightly in New Haven, CT. I was on the phone at work with someone from Bethel, CT and this lady says "um I have to go the building is shaking!". I'm thinking WTF? as she hangs up with me, and as I looked at my phone I felt a little shake. Told the other guys in my job trailer that I think we just had an earth quake and they said they didn't feel anything.

Welcome to my world guys!! We had a 7.0 on Easter Sunday last year and a bunch of aftershocks 5.0 or greater for months afterwards. Of course, I realize you guys are on softer soil, so the ground can vibrate more and your buildings aren't designed for earthquakes, so it must have been quite an experience.

IPD

you mean harder soil. kommiefornia is all broken from all the shocks. out east, shit travels for HUNDREDS of miles.

I should try to get video footage that my buddy took in Tokyo during that earthquake. :P

Mining town + high explosives mean we get a couple good shakes every once in a while.

officials announced this morning they've discovered a new fault-line running underneath and the DC area. they've titled it the "obama fault". dissenting pundits disagree and wish to name it the "bush fault". libertarians have openly stated that they believe the disturbance was from our founding fathers rolling over in their collective graves.

me? i think it was the 14 billion dollar check bouncing in washington.

There was another quake at 1:08 this morning.
This one was 4.5. It was strong enough to wake us up.
