View Full Version : Pics of a 94 3kgt we just painted

Here are some pics of the process of tearing a car down to paint and do body work. I wish I took more pictures of the car before we tore it down and during the process. I'll just have to wait until the next one. This one was one of the worst cars we brought back to life. We had to replace the front bumper, rear bumper, door, hood, side skirt, roof, and windshield. We added a hood spoiler at the same time. The color is BMW Deep Sea Blue metallic.

As long as it isn't bearing pizza, then you are invited :)

Oh, I would take your order, first.

Have you ever sprayed that Pearl Green, Hans?

I think it's my new fave 3S color...

Btw- the car looks great - you must be good at "applying paint".

We've sprayed pretty much every stock color that has come on a 3/s. I'm not a huge fan of green, but the 98/99 green is pretty nice.... for green.

I have a guy with 20 years of experience that works for me doing the body work and paint. He's super anal when it comes to doing a car from start to finish. I wanted to hire him a helper, and he refused. He likes knowing that he did all the work and how it was done.

Danube Blue Pearl. Nice.

Better wheels and a drop and that thing would look pretty bitchin'.

It's actually a BMW color. It's a bit darker than Danube Blue. It does have the same purple/blue effect though.

We added a hood spoiler at the same time.

Reading that before seeing the finished product had me cringing at what was exactly done, then saw the pictures and was relieved to discover that it was a typo. VERY nice job.

I didn't think that was stock. That car was in pretty bad shape. looks good now

You know, that's VERY weird. Before I posted that I was going to ask what color it was because I thought it looked a little darker than Danube Blue in the pictures. But then you posted about spraying almost every stock color and it threw me off. Stop that!

Man you guys can do a lot more then us here in CA. No way you can get away with that here. (painting it in that manner without proper exhaust, filters and such)

looks good though

What do you guys charge for whole body like that? I'm budgeting for a paint job for possibly next year - may be worth the while to make a road trip for that and some other mods. I wanna go from Panama Green G84A to New Zealand Green G13A

Inquires for this here so far are pathetic...I'd be better off parking my car under a hail storm and claiming insurance.

Hans@GZP

That job cost almost $6k, but tons of body parts were replaced. If we're doing a car with all of the jambs, but not the engine bay, you would be looking around $3500-$4500

...$4500 is about what i'll be paying for my car to get done at a local shop; complete color change. bay cost me $1200 already, but from what i'm told, the lambo black is SIIIIICK looking.

Hans@GZP

We can do the full engine bay for $1500 extra (pulling engine/trans).... just cutting into the engine bay is usually just a few hundred.

Something like this.

He's not high. New Zealand Green Pearl is the sexiest color I have ever seen on a 3S. My dream car is a 99 VR4 in that color. Too bad only 18 were made.

sorry, tyla, but the only time GREEN belongs on a sports car, is when it's a vintage british one. preferably a jaguar. olive > new zealand, emerald, hunter and/or pound-me-in-the-ass green.

No, you may not, and your suggestion that I am flouting some sort of sports-car color convention can, I am sure, be retained rather neatly in your over-sized anal orifice.

You're in denial if you don't think New Zealand Green Pearl looks fantastic on the 98-99 VR4s. The 91-97 green we might agree on, but the 98-99 green is in a league of its own. It just SCREAMS class.
