So my new update for the day is the following:
AEM EMS Series 2
AEM Boost Solenoid (30-2400)
AEM Digital Gauge - Boost Display Gauge 50psi peak (40-4408)
AEM IAT Intake Air Temp Sensor

So I decided to go with the AEM EMS for the VR4 and move the E-mange to the SL. It made money since over all... So soon I plan to make a road trip to 3SX to pickup all my new toys and say hello to the boys up there.

Looks Awesome! Real nice
Like where you got the power and distribution blocks. How is it all routed? Never realized there was that much room under the fender.

DarkHeroKOTRAJ
09-23-2010, 09:25 AM
Well it runs from the back in the wire well on the passenger side. Then it comes out the wiring hole on the side behind the rear part of the fender (as pictured.) I cross the top of the wheel well behind the plastic cover and down around the new location of the fuse box (pictured) and finally to the distribution blocks (the blocks also run 0 gauge wires to the alternator as well.) The real trick is extending all the wires to move the fuse box, that's a time consuming project. The other piece I have to still put under the fuse box is the power steering cooler; I have an Earls cooler for that. There is plenty of space even with the ABS (soon to be removed) for the fuse box. Getting the cooler in there will take the last bit of space up; making the bottom of the cooler close to the bottom of the bumper.

I know other people have moved the fuse box inside, but I got enough other stuff inside that I did not want to clutter it up any more. The only bitch part is if I blow a fuse, then it takes a bit of work to get to the box. Really though how often do you blow one of these fuses if you did everything correctly.

is this the car that just put a tdo5 on the front and left the tdo4 on the back? If I am right he got a good bit of flack for it on 3si, glad to see its turned out this nice.

Well I am shooting for 600+ with or with out E85, so we will see whats happens.

Nice! I hope you got rid of the cold weld around the BOV flange/threaded pipe. I couldn't tell if it was still there on the last pic.
That is an older picture; it was welded and had some quick steel on the top to smooth it out (solid but not a pretty weld.) I now have all aluminum piping now with less couplers.

Thanks, ya I have been working on this for a while; would have been done sooner, but been busy working on everyone's cars. I was also hopping to go to NG with our crew, but that has seem to fallen apart; some have a weeding to go too, my graduation party is that week end (even though I walk this weekend), some cars are just being complete A-Holes with problems, and there are two more in the line to be done. Working on 5 cars is a pain when its not your day to day job.

Also, I did not get to finish the wiring yesterday, it is going to take a bit longer then I though LOL

J. Fast
05-04-2011, 10:56 AM
Sweet project! What all did you delete from the harness wiring and accy's?

DarkHeroKOTRAJ
05-04-2011, 02:03 PM
Active suspension, ABS, Air bad, Active Exhaust, Rear wiper, radio wires (ran new ones going to the amps), seat belt, power chair wires, and some other stuff. The passenger side goes from like 30+ wires down to 4 and the driver side is cut at least in half. I could save some more if I dumped active aero as well.

I have added some wires back for my car pc, audio system, gauges/sensors. I have taken out probably 40-60 pounds worth of stuff, but added back in 10-20 back in. I plan to weigh everything here shortly, but I assume it will be a wash once the role cage is in, which I am ok with.

terrets
05-04-2011, 07:48 PM
So how did you remove the wires? Actually pull them from each plug end? Or did you cut them and cap them or something?

DarkHeroKOTRAJ
05-04-2011, 09:00 PM
I removed all the wiring and pulled from the plugs; the only part that is capped off are a few wires in the engine bay since the motor is all ready in and a few of them would be hard to get too. The main harness to the motor though is cleared of anything I don't need. I am also half way through putting in the cannon plugs, that stuff is not quick for those who may decide to do it.

So over the week end I got some stuff done, but rain and going down to the local game store to play Warhammer made the week end progress a little slow.

Chris I was at work :) I just was updating my thread, you know keeping everyone in the loop.

What got completed:
Installed new inter-cooler, piping, sensors, and BOV
Finished wiring inside the car (minus the 4 wires left for the car PC and Amps)
Installed new Sail Panels
Put new seats and harnesses in the car
Installed new front brakes (still need to do the rear)

I love those K-Sports man, be sure to let us know how they perform. Are going to go all the way around with them, or just fronts?

DarkHeroKOTRAJ
05-17-2011, 11:04 AM
Fronts for now, I am replacing the rears with matching brake rotors and high end pads. I am also going to paint them the same orange color to match the front; give it the uniformed look all the way around. If I still want more then I will replace the back ones.

jbuhrman
05-17-2011, 05:17 PM
Be sure to do a detailed product review of the K-sports.

You are 1 of the 1st I have seen running them and a good detailed review would be great.

DarkHeroKOTRAJ
05-18-2011, 09:45 AM
Will do; I was hesitate to go with K-Sport because no one else on the forms has them (all stoptech), but I figured I would go that way since I got them on a special deal (a price that was hard to beat and I can't repeat.) Also for reference these are the K-Sport 8 Piston 14" (356mm).

Is your TD05 kit 3sx? Did you use the Dejon IC adapters? What FMIC kit do you have. Sorry for all the questions your turbo kit seems very similar and Im trying to decide on what I want to do to finish it. Very nice build so far man.

DarkHeroKOTRAJ
05-19-2011, 09:43 PM
So today I finished closing up the engine bay; I still have to paint the intake pipe after modifying it to make it shorter and finish polishing the upper pipe. I am probably going to redo the blue lower and upper pipes with a chrome to make them match the rest of the motor.

Current Engine bay:
http://www.macross-plus.com/3000gt/images/Work-5-19-11-001.jpg

To answer the question mentioned above; Yes it is the 3sx kit, yep they are the Dejon IC adapters (though I modified the front one now), and my FMIC is is custom built.

So it's been a while since I have updated, but I have been a bit busy. Plus I was also a little mad when I hit a problem with the car, but in short here is how the last few months have gone down.

After getting everything hooked up and ready to go, I worked on some base line for the AEM (AEM is new to me, the Greddy I can do easily, this one is taking a bit to learn.) Once I was happy with the starting map, I went to go move the car and it seems that I have a problem in the transmission area (I believe it to be the new center dif, but I will not know till this weekend; also made a call to SCE about it and we are working on it from there.)

So from there I took a break from the cars and was working on my house, new sinks, faucets, door knobs, painting, ect. and my WarHammer stuff; yes I play Fantasy and 40K; I own more then you would ever want to know about. I also went ahead and built a new 600+ sq ft garage to work on every ones cars in (pics below.)

Now that everything is good to go I am back to working on my cars, Mike's, and Brian's. So I should start updating once more.

Some pics of the new hang out place as I went through the process:

Great Build.
I cant wait for the Dyno figures, I am doing a TDO5 build of My own at the moment allthough I think that I may have gone over the top by fitting 20G's, if I get too much lag I will go with the billet 16G's.
I hope to finnish putting the engine together this weekend.

I thought about the 20G's but I only would do them if I had the 3.5 setup.

Update on the VR4:
Found out why the car would not move, was not the center but the input sleeve to the spider gear in the transfer case. I have seem to cause them to separate from each other (most likely related to bad install from the local shop.) So at this point it is back together and ready to get a tune setup, though I am taking a moment from this one to work on the other car.

The SL Start:
So I have started to get ready to finish my conversion on the SL. If all goes as planed this week end I will have a turbo auto SL; should be a blast to DD.

Parts list high lights for the SL:
4 bolt block
Stage 3 heads +1 both sides (Just regular springs)
E-Manage Ultimate
E-01 Boost controller
AEM A/F Gauge
15G turbo's
720 injectors

Sneak peek at what I have started to install this week:

So just another quick update:

Turbo SL:
Love it, it's a blast to drive even at 10psi (right now.) I am also placing a 220 Mechman alternator in the SL, since my factory one is slowly dieing (idling at 12 volts and rides at 12.7 volts.) I also have a Tial BOV on the way for the SL as well. I will take some pictures as soon as I get the piping welded together.

VR4:
Nothing new, I still have to get around to tuning it (busy with everything else.)

Mikes VR4:
Well we found the problem with his, the front bank was leaking coolant into the motor (hence low compression numbers.) We have since got a new block and put the pistons, rods and heads back together. Also did his ABS delete and wiring update. I hope to get his finished this weekend, so I can get to tuning my VR4.

Ya the other day some one floored there car thinking they where going to walk away from me, well they where surprised when I went flying past them.

Can the SL auto handle the power?
The SL auto is not the strongest transmission, but it should hold for a bit. I have debated on doing an auto AWD conversion, but we will see where that leads.

The VR4, ya it needs to be tuned just been busy working on other things. Also with a lack of a local AWD dyno it makes it hard to really dial the car in.

And warhammer? the f? lol
LOL thats what every one says when they walk in. I have to many hobbies.... Starting this month I have to start my Christmas lights; in case if you don't know what I am talking about this is my house last year:

Well here is the quick update:

Car went to 3sx for tuning, but after a few hours of cruse tuning and then on the second pull at 14.4psi the new mechman alternator gave out blowing party of cylinder 6 out. It came back to the garage here that weekend and had everything rebuilt.
I also spent 23 days in Japan so I was gone most of April and the fabricating guy is now working on a custom body work; top secret work at the moment :)

On returning I am now finishing the transmission exchange on the 94 Auto SL and putting in a 6 speed AWD transmission with LSD and stage 2+ clutch. The factor auto made it to just over 181K miles before it just started to slip; it would have to do it right on return from vacation.

I will update one the body works done, painted, and gets it's full tune on the dyno; also when the SL gets it's new 6 speed put in.

3. The VR-4 has been in Charlotte NC getting a lot of custom work performed to it; pictures I have are not that current, but wanted to give an idea of what to show some of the work in progress:

4. Finished putting the transmission in the SL and also about to swap in the Chrome Flash ECU.

5. Went to South Korea for 2 weeks and about a week in New York City for new years; also getting ready for 3 weeks going back to Japan and then to China.

Also I did not do my Christmas lights this year; I was out of the country when I was suppose to start the setup and I had to finish my friends car before he moved.

DarkHeroKOTRAJ

Thanks for the comments, the cage is on the VR4. I thought I had more pictures of it, but I can't find them at the moment. The owner of Retro Designs in NC did the work and I would have to say it is one of the best looking jobs I have seen, hence why his shop is making my custom fenders, scoops, and paint work. He is going to take some more pictures in the next week or so and once I get the car back I will take some more myself.

I am quite excited about getting it back by May, it's been a year since I have seen it.

LOL, Nope... I have everything paid off and my house later this year will be 100% paid out. I also received a promotion last year (with a substation pay increase) and my side company has been trending well for the last 3 years.

How much power is it making?
The VR4 on it's 3rd pull (after many house working on drive ability) made 497hp and 502 torque @14.3 boost, but then the new mechman alternator died and took cylinder 6 with it. I rebuilt the motor the weekend I came back from 3sx and then sent it back to get body work since I was going out of country for a while. From the looks of it we where thinking around 530 to 560 at waste gate pressure was going to be the target hp.

The SL has not been to the dyno yet, but will be soon. This weekend I have working on putting this in:

I know I should have more of the roll cage, but they are MIA. They welded all new plates in the mounting places to keep it as strong as possible. In the back he went through the two holes where it crossed from left to right (he also made custom plates to fit in the holes so it gives it a smooth finished look), the rest are fairly slandered plates and mounting. Is there something you want to see, I could ask for a picture from him.

Yes it is in two ways, one to put air to the back spoiler and two to provide air inside. Where it's at, he has an employee that use to build F1 cars; where suppose to talk about a few other options for down force on the car.

I did have the fiber glass wide body, but I wanted something that did not just cover over for the rear; the fronts, I went this way for durability reasons and uniqueness. All the other metal work is just things I wanted. Just for an FYI the cost to this point is just short of 10K (includes bulk head, all 4 fenders, roof scoop, body work [dings, bumpers, alignment, etc.], and some other mis work.)

Update
So the last year has been cray and interesting:
- Went to China and Japan with my mom for a month in April 2013
- Went to Italy 2013 and asked my lady to marry me in July 2013 (Good times)
- Planing a wedding that will take place in the French Rivera
- Rebuilding Brian's car
- Starting the Christmas light's
- Selling my 94 SL turbo conversion

The car is starting it's second round of primer and should be painted in the next 2-3 weeks, so expect a big update then. Been a year and half coming, but it looks so good.

The person that did my role cage is the same one who did my body work; Daniel an Retro Designs.

The dash should not be an issue as long as you got the 8 point; 10 point the dash most likely needs to be done.
