about 5 years ago i did a tt conversion on my car. my car ran good for along time befor i blew a main bearing. however i put it on my non turbo transmission and i could realy tell that it was putting alot of stress on it. i also had to put such a heavy clutch plate on it to keep if from sliping that it took alot of the fun of driving out of it. i didn't realy have the money for awile to do anything so its been sitting for over a year.
I want to keep my car turbo, but i want to change out my transmission, but i don't know if i want to go 5 speed or 6, and do the awd system. i want to keep it 300 to 400 hp, so basicly stock. i don't plan on street or drag raceing any more so hard launches wont be a factor. I just want a fun car

What are you asking? There isn't any questions in your post.
Does it still sit with a spun bearing? Is the trans in good shape?

sry about the miss understanding. i'm going to put a new engine in my car. right now i have a 2wd transmission in it. i want to either put a 5 speed or 6 speed transmission in its place. but i'm also considering putting the awd lsd rear end in. i guess what i'm asking would most of ya'll go with the 5 or 6 speed and would ya'll mess with putting in the awd system in the back, for just a daily driver. i work in a machine shop so fabricating or moding it to work wouldn't be an issue but just wondering if i could realy tell the difference of having an awd car.

AWD conversion can be done, but you are better off buying a VR4 or RT/TT since its already AWD, no conversion needed.

Coming from somebody that has done it, Yes! you are better off getting a vr4 if you want AWD.
You can get an GETRAG 5 or 6 speed converted to FWD and get a LSD for it. It's a lot of fun. I've been in your situation so I can give you about any advice you want lol.
you intentionally put the MTX FWD transmission with a tt? yeah, that's a recipie for disaster. AWD>FWD trans is what you need.

My FWD trans did pretty well with TT power. I didn’t try and break it but I did abuse it a good bit. When I did the AWD conversion I sold the trans. As far as I know he’s still using it.
On the other hand you got people like stealthee that has been through 4 or 5 FWD transmissions on SOHC power. Ha ha

BTW if you feel like reading up on how to do the conversion you can check out my thread.

An AWD conversion takes a considerable amount of work. So much, in fact, that if I were considering doing that much work I'd just go all out and fab a tubular chassis made to fit under a 3S body, throw in a V8 and a Ford rear end and have a lightweight RWD monster.
Now I just made IPD jizz his pants.
