Curious about swapping side skirts from a 2nd get 3000gt and a 99 bumper...

do i need to swap doors to make the side skirts look right?

do i need to swap more than just the bumper for a 99 bumper conversion on a 2nd gen?

also wondering about swapping my rear r/t bumper for a 1st gen 3000gt bumper... i like the look, but wondering if a r/t rear bumper might be better for a lowered car..

You'll need to swap the door caps to make it look right.

I don't have an answer for the '99 conversion question.

I think the R/T bumper would match the looks of the '99 a lot better, but it's your car.

2G stealths look great with 99 fronts and stock sides and rear. Of course that's my opinion. I've owned a 2G stealth with 99 front and 3kgt sides if you want to see pics. Own one with 99 front and stock sides and rear as well.

For the 99 front conversion, you will need turn signals and front bumper cover. If you want to do it complete, you will also need the little garnish pieces that go on each side and the proper under belly pieces. But, you can leave them out if you choose.

yeah some pics would be awesome! There are enough parts here nearby id be silly not to at least do the 99 conversion. But back to the side skirts, only 2g sideskirts will go with 2g stealth? or can you use 1g sideskirts which are much easier(and cheaper)? Unsure as to the look of 1g skirts, thinking they prob wont look right. either way id like to do this now, before i repaint in either sept or may.

All side skirts are interchangeable except for base model stealth ones.

Here is the album for the stealth I had with 2G 3kgt side skirts and 99 front end (also a 3kgt spoiler).

you don't need to swap turns. you can use the 2g stealth turns, there will just be a little gap in the corners. most people won't even notice them, unless they're 3/s enthusiasts.

imho, if you have the r/t rear, keep it. the 3kgt rear is much more common-looking; even among 3/s's. also imho, the 1g 3kgt parts work best together. the only "non 1g" part that compliments them is the 99 garnish.

yeah i am going to go with a 99 bumper(with the 99 turn signals and the rest) and the 2g skirts. will stay with r/t rear bumper...thinking of putting in gto tail lights or 1/2g mitsu center tail light at least the one i have is ugly as sin.

the r/t rear doesn't work with any of the 3kgt stuff; including the garnish/reverse lights.

So... all the hardware is rusted for my bumper. Should I order all the 99 hardware? Or do I need to get different hardware? Also, are the 10mm fender bolts the same bolts as what id be using to mount the bumper? Bolts are also rusted/striped.

bumper mount brackets for 2g stealth are identical to the 99's. bolts are the same. use LOTS of liquid-wrench or whatever the most potent solvent you have available is. you can always drill out broken bolts, but if you break too many studs for the bumper brackets, you'll probably need to replace them.

yeah the bolts are preatty much powder. a moron tried to repaint the car, and didnt put anything back on right. so the entire front clip is misaligned and water has been getting on everything
