For now I only have one gun. A Kel Tec P3AT .380 which I use as my concealed carry. I have since added a grip and a grip extender.

I only have one gun right now. I just sold my CC (Taurus Millenium Pro PT-145, .45 ACP 10 round clip+1). Now that was a fun CC gun lol. Smaller then my hand but with that much stopping power and 11 round capacity (with one in the chamber).

My gun that I still own was the 1st handgun I ever bought, a Ruger KP95, 9mm. Its got 16 round clips+1 in the champer. I have since gotten a red dot for it (no not a laser, a red dot) and I use it for target shooting. It also resides in a handgun quick safe on my nightstand. Currently loaded with "self defense" hollow points.

My next gun purchase is going to be a SAIGA 12 Semi Auto Shotgun w/the 25 round drum clip :D.

I am too lazy to find a picture of my tuarus, but here is my Ruger

You must have big hands.

Thats what she said ;)

But seriously the thing was tiny, only a 3.25 inch barrel on it. Oh and when I say smaller then my hand I mean laying my hand out flat not holding it with my hand around the grip or anything lol

Polygon

Hahaha, I was expecting that.

However, that's what I meant. My P3AT is a little bit smaller than my hand. I looked up some pics cause' there's no way there could be a .45 the same size as these tiny .380s. Sure enough, it's fair sized. Small for a .45 but not what I would call small.

Then again, maybe I just have small hands.

It take a big man to admit something like that... "small hands" haha jk.

It could just be small to me because I'm used to a 357 magnum and my buddies dessert eagle which are way bigger then my Taurus was.

Haha nice thread and pics guys.

I remember posting in the old thread on 3Si titled '3S Gun Carrier' or something rather. I posted this pic of my partial collection:

http://i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu203/timmm36/weapn.jpg

The funny thing is, I live in Australia and we have VERY strict laws. I didn't have permits for any of my knives, swords or replica firearms (yes Aussies need permits now for everything, including replica firearms because they are commonly used in hold ups).

To cut a long story short, the police found this pic and a couple more like it on my computer (which they had in their possession on an unrelated matter) along with other pics of the car (they thought I was driving around with pictured weapons in my car), came to my house, arrested and charged me and confiscated everything.

I have to go to court soon, how tight is that. FTML LOL

/End rant.

OH SHIT!

see i could reactivate my .45 but i wont simply because i want to live within the law. i could also drive 10 mile and buy basically and gun i wanted but as i said i would rather live within the law its far easier.

good luck in court mate from the sound of it your going to need it!

The good old .45 is a classic for sure. Are gun/weapons laws tight over there like here in Australia?

i foresee a total ban all all firearms with possibly the exception of shotguns. not sure how they will enforce a rifle ban, its ilegal to shoot a fox with a shotty here and as you know fox's kill a shit load of live stock every year so they need to be controlled.

its got to the point where we cant buy and sell airguns between each other. all the airsoft BB guns are either bright colors or transperant. kids cap guns no longer exist. gun shaped lighters are banned. blank firers are banished to theatrical/tv or reinactment groups.
edit: they are now allowing blank firers back providing they comply with the legislation......bright fucking orange!

its a joke!

I should never have found this thread. between myself and my two friends we have 55 guns. many of which are assault rifles and not the cheap crappy ar 15's with direct gas impingement system, im talking piston operated ak reliable. it will take a while to gather photos. I only have 3 pistols (Para ordinance military special order SF-45-A being the best of the three) 1 Sig 556 Swat, and my savage 30-06 sniper rifle being the zombie slayers, but i also have a 30-30, Mosin nagant from 1929 (amazing gun), and a savage 17hmr. I should be able to upload a few photos of mine but my two army buddies live hours away. the one has 32 guns to himself. mostly WWII rifles and handguns but a few AR's and the like. When I have more time ill get back in this thread.

One of my best friend's brother took his own life with a gun, and they're a great way for violent criminals to keep doing what they do. The flip side is they're a great way to prevent criminals from doing what they do, assuming the victim is equally or better armed and trained. My overall experience is that excluding the armed forces, guns have been cause of much more harm than help in the US. I also think the gun control laws do little more than screw the honest people, and keep criminals better armed. I don't feel any sort of attachment to them, though, and don't want the potential problems they could cause in a house with kids.

The Japanese weapons are my own personal interests in the history of samurai and ninja. I took martial arts in my younger days, too. They are a representation of the honor and striving for perfection that Bushido represents.

The European weapons are my own personal tie to family history. I've traced family history back to England and Scotland, found our coat of arms, been to historic castles in England, been to a Scottish swordsmith whose smithy was built by his ancestors, before the town was founded. I also enjoy the philosophies of chivalry, and crusades. I do feel a personal connection with them, in some strange way, and it feels "right". It just feels great to put on some armor and hold them in my hand. I'm not sure how to describe it, other than it's probably the same way people feel about their cars.

Most of the weapons are functional, some are stainless steel "wall hangers". A few are finely edged, and I've used them for tameshigiri (test cutting). Only one is an authentic historic piece, the rest are replicas. I have a few others that aren't pictured (like a longbow), and I've also got a 16th century field combat harness I commissioned that should be done in Jan-Feb. :D

I like it, it's no worse to shoot than my P3AT was. I think it's perfect for CC but it's still not a fun range gun. Which is why I have a Ruger MkIII on the way and a SA 1911 on order if they ever get it back in stock.

Can't go wrong with the 1911. A friend of mine has an old Colt 1911 .45 ACP that is a riot to shoot.

As ridiculous as it sounds, I have been toying with the idea of getting an AK-47 shooting 7.62's. The same guy with the Colt 1911 has one and it puts a big grin on my face every time I shoot it.

My 1943 Russian Mosin Nagant. I got bored with it looking so old, so a few weeks ago i took it apart. Ended up sanding it down and re-staining it. Did three coats in a ebony stain, cleaned the metal in a acid and re-painted them as well.

You like pump shotgun?

You like pump shotgun?

Yeah. It's primarily a home defense gun, so I figured a pump would make it a tad more intimidating, in the hope that racking it would scare a would-be intruder enough for me to not have to shoot them. And on the occasions where I'd be hunting or sport shooting, it ups the fun factor just a little bit more. I haven't actually shot this gun yet. Still waiting on my application process for the shooting range I'll be joining. I've shot my friend's pump a few years back, so I was familiar enough with it to know I'd rather have a pump than a semi-auto.

Since it's a defense gun can you hold your finger on the trigger and pump it and fire?

Since it's a defense gun can you hold your finger on the trigger and pump it and fire?

I don't think so. It says there's a trigger disconnect so I'd assume that it can't be slam fired. But it's not really intended to be used as a defense gun. I just bought the 18.5" tactical barrel so it can be used as a more maneuverable defense gun...it's main purpose is for hunting. I guess I worded that last post a bit poorly. I only meant that MY primary use was for home defense. I'll only reattach the 28" barrel when taking it out to shoot. The 18.5" barrel stay on when it's inside my home.

Without question the Kahr PM 9. It's what I carry every day. It's small enough that it doesn't print easily. It's not very heavy for a 9MM. And it shoots very well for it's size. They are a lot mare expensive than the Kel Tec's but are MUCH better built. However, you can get the CM 9 as it's the same gun, just a budget version.

Here's mine:

First and foremost, what do you want to do with the gun? If it is just home protection I wouldn't recommend getting a .44 Magnum as it only holds six rounds and is a bit of a handful for that sort of thing. Good gun for hunting or bear protection though. I have a Springfield XD 9mm and it is phenomenal. Springfield Armory has great customer service, and the XD is VERY reliable. I have shot over 1,000 rounds out of mine without any FTF or FTE. Personally, the XDm is a waste of money unless you need replaceable grips and a mag that holds a few more rounds for an extra $200. .45 is a decent home defense gun. Though, if you plan on taking it to the range from time to time just get a 9mm. You can plink around all day with a 9mm without spending too much. .45 ACP ammo is expensive, and in my opinion, a fat, lazy, and slow ammunition. Not only that, you can usually only hold between 8-13 rounds in a mag. Get some home defense rounds for a 9mm for home and you're good to go.

Or if you just want a fun gun with some good kick (expensive ammo), get a .44 mag. I did just for the hell of it.

i have an xd40 as my home defense/cc weapon. i love it , im a bigger guy so in the winter the shoulder holster is barely noticeable and the mob holster i have for the other seasons still fits pretty well. i bought mine for 400 out the door at a pawnshop that said it was used, thing had never even been fired. oh and i got the hicapacity 13 round one.

please do us all a favor and take a class and do some practicing before buying your first hand gun, maybe start with a rifle, guns are dangerous but can be fun.

I kinda' agree.

I would only really get a .45 ACP in a 1911 to be honest. The .44 mag would make a really fun gun. I do want one at some point. That and a .357 mag. If you want it for home defense, I say forget hand guns all together and get a tactical shotgun.

Ya itll be mostly for range/home protection, and cc if WI ever gets it... Probably will hunt small game with it, Im more of a bow guy for deer. ;)

We have shotguns and rifles...and Ive shot a good amount, not a handgun yet though...Im not a big guy, only 130lbs 5'7, would I not have much fun at the range with a 40, 44 or 45? compared to a 9mm..

A .357 would be pretty sweet too.

I took hunter safety. lol..

What do these classes consist of?

9mm is starting to sound nice...Who makes good quality and not tooo expensive 9mm? Ill probably end up buying a used one first..

You could still definitely have fun. However, 45 ACP ammo is WAY more expensive and not really than much more fun to shoot. If you are willing to spend the coin on expensive ammo that is going to be noticeably more fun to shoot than a 9mm get a .44 Mag. .44 Mag > .45 ACP, .40, & 9mm by a long shot.

My CCW gun right now is a Kel Tec P11 9mm it's really small with a 10 round mag but might get the Kel Tec PF9 and sell my other one.
For home defense lol I have a 1959 Savage shot gun that is more for scaring them then shooting.

The advantage of .45 is big hitting power in a relatively small package. Also, its subsonic with is nice if you have a silencer.

Almost nobody has a silencer. I'd take one if I was relatively close range with a very large person threatening my life. Otherwise, give me a more practical and more accurate 9mm or .40 that doesn't go < 1,000FPS.

the lowest percent on that chart for a .40 cal is still just as low as the .45 , 40 is just as effective and often times smaller
and technically the highest percentage on the .45 is 93% stopped in one shot withhydra shok ammo , the .40 has the same percentage. this chart and some other readings are what lead me to buy a .40 over .45 for ccw

That's why I never carry a SA chambered until I'm ready to fire. Or with the safety off for that matter. My dad has a Mk I that I love and prompted me to buy this as a fun target practice/plinking gun since my PM9 is not fun to shoot at all.

EDIT:

Today I came across a gun I had completely forgotten about. My grandpa left me a Winchester 1897 16 gauge. My dad has been holding onto it as I was only a kid when it was left to me. Anyhow, I knew nothing about this gun until this afternoon while watching Auction Hunters. It seems they're kind of rare. I'm going to give the insides a clean and lube and take it shooting.

lol I'm proud to be an american...

No pics, and I only own one REAL gun for now...It's a Walthar P22 with the 5 Inch Barrel Extension....with 750 rounds... 22LR's are cheap as dirt. I shop at a place called "Outpost Armory" where they sell everything from your first .22 to Barret 50 cals, and Bulk ammo is readily available...1000 round boxes for everything. if your ever near Manchester TN, DO stop by!

I also have a small collection of CO2 Pistols, some are weaker then a spring loaded bb gun, and others will mess some shiz up. my Favorite is some wierd off brand, but Full Weight Full Size, Semi Auto, Blowblack, the works...blew a dime size hole in the storage room door with it from 20 feet away.. its pretty nasty.

I am saving up for another gun... Leaning towards the M+P 15-22. Practically THE SAME THING as a M+P-15 (AR-15) just shoots 22LR's, most AR-15 mods fit it, easy and quick to clean, takes abuse, pretty light. and CHEAP. good ol smith and wesson. If anyone has had one decently long term and shoots alot lemme know what you think of it. I have heard nothing but good things.

You won't be disappointed. They are reliable as hell and Springfield has phenomenal customer service.

Going out tomorrow with some friends. Should have a .270, an AR-15 (5.56 NATO), 1911 .45, XD 9mm, .44 Mag Raging Bull, AK-47, and a MP5. Should be a good day. :)

Aw only in 9mm..Sexy though...I kind of want a gun with a hammer so I might go with a 1911. But I want a .40 and it looks like its only offered in the EMP...Not sure if I want that short of a barrel...anyone else have a rec? Whats the advantage/disadvantage of a shorter barrel besides carrying?

Accuracy. To be honest, unless you're shooting at pretty far distances you won't notice unless it's a a 3" subcompact. Honestly, they are just easier to aim when they are longer as well. I wouldn't get a 1911 for a first gun but that's just me. They tend to be a less reliable gun and generally shoot expensive, slow, inaccurate .45 ACP ammo. Call me crazy but I'd take 9mm or a .40 for personal protection ANY day over the .45 ACP...especially in a 1911.

I've never personally shot a Mosin but I know a thing or two about them. They are an old Russian rifles that can be picked up for next to nothing these days. Make sure the gun is in very good condition as modern high powered ammo has blown the barrels on those.

I dont buy from cheaper than dirt but thats the can your looking for when it comes to cheap ammo to plink away. if your lucky yours will shoot that ammo at 1" group at 100 yards like one of mine does ( its rare but I have owned 8 different ones and only one does it so far) I have a C&R so I can order them online and get them shipped to my house which is awesome (saves the dealer transfer fee) Any other questions feel free to pm me, ask them here, or both.

Edit: forgot there is tons of information as to modifying it to have a smoother bolt, and lighter trigger amongst other things. because these are so inexpensive right now its a fun gun to try things out with. (fyi the price on these has went up over the past year or two. When I first started getting into these I could get them for 59.99, now most local shops sell them at 99-129.)

Shot it for the first time today, very happy with my purchase :). I was a little surprised at how heavy it actually is. Im going to make a trip back to Scheels and get a holster and some real hearing protection heh.

I don't get to go like I used to. We had a firing range set up on property my aunt lived on, but she has since moved. Its easier to take the 9 out and empty some magazines.

As for the 30.06 I could probably empty the gun in under 5 seconds if i really wanted to. I never had to though. The deer is usually dead on the first shot. :D

I forgot to post up my initial range report with my PM9.

So, it's been a while since this trip to the range but I thought I would share this anyhow. I had bought my PM9 for CC use and I needed to break it in. I followed the prep thread over on the Kahr forums. I also added some grip tape to the grip as well as a grip extender to the 6 round magazine. I wasn't too concerned about accuracy. I mainly wanted to make sure it cycled accurately. Ammo I used was some Federal FMJ. I went through 200 rounds and all of them cycled flawlessly except one. I had a FTF and the slide locked back. When I checked the chamber the round was nose down in the magazine. I ejected the magazine and reinserted it. Released the slide and it fired every round after that without any more failures.

I was aware of this issue before I went to the range. The issue is that you might have issues with the bullet catching the slide lever causing the slide to lock back and an FTF. I had checked and it looked like clearance was good on both the range FMJ and defensive JHP I have. As such when I got home from the range I broke it down and filed down the slide lever ever so slightly. Now I just need to get back to the range to test it again to see if I get another failure. In the end my accuracy wasn't too bad since I wasn't focusing on that.

Here's the target from the first box of rounds. First half shot at 7 yards, 2nd at 10 yards.

http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/284324_2087009066272_1576553743_2085433_4182807_n. jpg

Overall I'm happy with the gun. However, I've decided I need more magazines to take to the range. Two just doesn't cut it.

LOL!

Depending on which 1911 you get they can be decently accurate. But, I will admit the sexiness played a big part of why I bought one.

Clint, I am a bit torn. Looking a 1911 (what handgun owner isn't), however, what about this. A Kel-Tec PLR-16 pistol. You can get a floating barrel with side rails. Not much need for extravagant attachments like an AR-15 though. With a decent red dot I am thinking this something I could pick up in the near future.

Went shooting today. My buddy shot my .44 Magnum Raging Bull and messed up his hand. He shot it and the recoil shoved the opening slide (for lack of a better word) into his thumb. He's still a bit sore.

Here are the pictures of my Glock 30SF next to my Glock 26 Gen4. The Glock 30 is huge compared to my Glock 26 both are 10rd mag but the 30SF is a 45ACP.

Then you have some big hands I'm 5-11 with a decent size hand with zero problems griping either of the Glocks I have I did put the grip extender on the G26 so I could put my pinky there. Have you ever fired a Glock compact .45 it's got zero recoil great gun very well designed.

One of the reasons I went with a XD. Worlds more comfortable to shoot. Glock makes a good gun, don't get me wrong. I just hate the way they feel.

lol. it was #4 on military channel's "best CQ combat weapon" special last night. i'm surprised you gun freaks haven't heard about it.

MagPul FMG9: Prototype 9mm Folding Submachine Gun (http://www.defensereview.com/magpul-fmg9-prototype-9mm-folding-submachine-gun/)

I read somewhere that it may never be released to civians if they mass produce it at all. I recall a video of the manufacture showing it and saying it was basically a " see what we can do with some crazy ideas" idea. It may have gotten so much input from people to want to make it though so I could be wrong its been 2 years since I watched the video and read about it.

Nice. It shoots 9x19 so ammo wouldn't be too terribly expensive either. P90 is a cool gun. Shoots an odd round like a 5.7mm or something like that IIRC.

the videos shown on the special last night showed a FULLY FUNCTIONING prototype. unfold, aim, fire.

this isn't the first "folding machine gun" (the first was made 20 some years ago) but it is more advanced.

yes, the p90 uses a unique ammo; just like the HK mp7 has it's own unique ammo too.

i'd say for overall versatility, the p90 is the best. for ease of use, the mp7 is probably a bit better. but for sheer coolness and conceal-ability, the FMG is king.

The Heckler and Koch uses 4.6mm which is insanely small. Quite a bit smaller than a .22 even. I like most everything German, especially H&K, but that is too small of a caliber.

you should have seen the demo they did with the mp5 vs the mp7. the mp5 uses 9mm parabellum. the mp7 uses the 4.6--but it's shaped like a rifle bullet. they test fired both at a "bulletproof vest". 9mm stopped. 4.6 penetrated all the way through the front, dummy in the middle, and the rear of the vest. same firing distance with both weapons.

do NOT count the mp7 out just because it has a smaller caliber.

The 4.7 penetrated because it IS a rifle round. That is like saying the 4.7 is better than a .40 S&W. No. It is thin. If you really want armor penetration get a 5.56 NATO AR-15 with armor piercing bullets that have a tungsten-alloy core. A 4.7mm has a similar size as a pellet gun. It is a unique and cool gun. Quite useless for practicality.

If you look closely, I'm wearing self adjusting inner ear plugs. The range is a few clicks out, so the only dangerous noise was the A/C themselves. You can't wear anything that completely silences all noise, because you risk having a 58 land on your head. :)

Decided to pick up an XD on Wednesday. Farm and fleet had a little sale. I went knowing I wanted a .40 and took a look at the XD 4in barrel and a Sauer .40.. The weight and balance of the XD just felt so much better. Filled out the paperwork and what not but the gun shop ended up closing before they got to call. The next morning a lady from fleet called to confirm the order and I decided to get the subcompact in case I do want to carry. I also really liked the OD green, so I got that. I paid $491 for the typical XD kit with a 9rd mag and a 12rd extended. Also picked up some shooting muffs and a 100 pack of Remington rounds. Went through about 70 right away :). Too bad thats like 23 dollars :). Love the gun. Pictures:

If I am just getting FMJ range ammo I usually pick up Winchester rounds from Walmart. Cheap and reliable. I haven't bought a ton of home defense rounds as I haven't needed near the supply as range rounds (obviously). The home defense round I purchased were at a local gun store.

Shooting the gun without ear protection. You can get a silencer in most states through and application and a $200 stamp. Granted, the suppressor itself usually costs around $1,000.

So... my father is extremely hard to shop for. Never have any idea what to get him for Christmas, but a few months ago he told me he was thinking about getting another handgun. (He doesn't have any now, sold them and just has a shotgun and .22 left.) Wanted to get it for home defense only really, he doesn't go to the range and guns aren't a hobby for him.

So I bought him a Hi-Point .40S&W. Couldn't believe the price, $150 after taxes and shipping. I read a lot about them saying they were ugly guns (they are!) but most people post very positive reviews of them, especially if the purpose is to just have a gun for home defense and not hit the range all the time. Then I decided to get one for me too, since... why not? Anyone else here have a Hi-Point? I've read equally good reviews of their 9mm and .45.

There's actually multiple reviews out there on the Hi-Points and how they shoot very well. It's definitely not up to the standards of a Glock or Sig, (I also have a Glock 23 and an old Beretta 9mm) but I haven't heard or seen anything online saying they are prone to blowing up, and most users say that they are experiencing virtually no jamming with them, going through hundreds of rounds.

Anyway, it was a cheap gun to give a guy who wants a handgun for home defense, and doesn't know anything about handguns. So, decided that for the price, I'd pick one up myself. I'll let you guys know how it shoots when I get it, though it may be awhile as the closest range to me is a good 20 miles away. (Which I found unbelievable, seeing as how this is TX after all!!!)

I don't have any pics of my guns, its not really a hobby of mine. Got the Glock from a friend of mine a few years back who wanted to try something else and sold it to me for a good price, and the Beretta is a 92FS?, used to belong to my uncle. He said it was the same gun used in the Die Hard movie. (Not THE same gun, same model.)
