Can we lose this button? there is already a reply box ready and waiting. I can't tell you how many times I have typed out a reply just to hit that instead of "Post quick reply" and I lose my reply.

Pssh... Then half the people would be like "how do I reply to threads? There's no reply button?!?"
Remember... in the internet world, must cater to the lowest common denominator....

True, but if they type up a message and just click on the biggest boldest button on their screen, they get to watch their message go bye bye.

Cept that I would never think to go UP from where I was working to submit.... Workflow makes me continue down. But then again, read my post above LOL!!

I've been posting more often lately and this is driving me crazy as well. I hit "reply with quote" and end up hitting "Reply to Thread" because it's the biggest button underneath. This can be made more usuable in two ways.
1) Put the last quick reply underneath the reply to button.
2) Move the quick reply buttons to the left so you can see it above the reply to thread button.

After hitting reply with quote the quick reply and reply to thread buttons switch.

The reply to thread button is needed for anyone using a browser where javascript is turned off. Without javascript the quick reply box does not work and reply with quote opens a new page.
That's fine, I'm not saying to remove it but rearrange the layout.

Just wrap the button in the noscript tag. This will remove it for all users that have javascript enabled. The button will only show if they have javascript disabled.

I don't think we can get ride of it. How else do you go into "advanced mode" reply?

oh, I guess you would go into quick reply then choose "Go Advanced." I would be ok with that for sure. There are too many buttons down here...

Just about all of the forums I'm a part of are set up this way. If anything were to be done, maybe it'd be a good idea to put the two gray buttons for the quick reply into the same bounding box as the quick reply text-field (in order to group them together).

I've never once had an isue with this. It pretty basic to go to the button BELOW the quick reply box. ;)
