Went to zMAX Wednesday night for the first Summer Drag n Brag event.
Pertinent mods:
bone stock original longblock
OG RPS turbokit w/ original 3" downpipe and recirculated WG
RKS Power Systems fuel system
GReddy 3-Row
ITS GT72 Q-trim .81ar
VPC/SAFCII/Gforce ECU
RPS c/c
28ish psi
50/50 VP110/C16
1st run -- I blew the wastegate line off my EBC solenoid as soon as I came out of the hole and the car fell on its face. :dunce: I stayed in it like a boss anyway and ran 12.2 @ 112MPH at 11psi and 9:1 a/f! :lol3: I'm adding replacing the zip ties on the wastegate line as part of my pre-flight checklist because this is the 3rd time it's happened to me....! I haven't run that slow of an ET since my BPU days and that's the lowest MPH I've ever made a complete pass with -- felt like it took fooooooorever...! LOL
2nd run -- Hell must've frozen over because for the first time ever zMAX was sticky and well-prepped. My anti-lag was acting up since I re-did my activation switch so I tried a free-revving launch. I came out of the hole at 55000RPM and bogged HARD but I stayed in it to check a/f's and get a feel for the track. The car felt STRONG even though my a/f's where in the 10.6 range. At the top of 3rd and into 4th I noticed a little bit of breakup, most likely due to the super rich mixture on the C16. Ended up with this:
60' 1.881
330' 5.003
1/8 7.321
MPH 110.10
1000' 9.327
1/4 10.972
MPH 140.01
I guess the switch from the .70ar divided to the .81 undivided housing was worth the legit 30-40+ WHP a few people said it would be! I think the car would've easily gone 142MPH with a little less fuel and a little more boost. The overly rich mixure and minor breakup in 4th caused the car to lay down up top; I usually pick up 32-33MPH on the big end. While my 1/4 trap was up +2MPH over my previous best, my 1/8 trap was up +5MPH -- previously my average 1/8 was in the 104-105MPH range! C16 likes to be in the upper high 11/low 12 a/f range to really light off; once it fattened up in 4th it really laid down. I usually pick up 32-33MPH on the big end, so the +5MPH in the 1/8 really shows the true gain. The stock cams are basically a choke point at the current power level. This fall when I do cams, springs, retainers and a few other minor things it should easily go 148ish before I spray it.
I didn't get to make another pass due to rain... :Tantrum: :MikeB: While the ET sucks due to bogged launch, I'm really happy with the potential the car has. If I can get it back on a sticky track and get my anti-lag sorted, I think deeeeep 10's will be guaranteed. This was also with an extra 80-100lbs worth of stereo that I got around to re-installing since my last runs. True full-weight street car - stereo and all - driven to and from the track. :bigthumb:
