i'm trying to replace my front wheel bearing. i've heard that i needed the whoe hub, and that's what i was supposed to get. i didn't. all i got was the wheel bearing itself i believe.

pretty much what is Pictured here:
Wheel Hub & Bearing Parts - 3000GT / Stealth*-*Mitsubishi 3000GT*/*Dodge Stealth Parts (http://www.3sx.com/store/comersus_viewItemBundle.asp?idProduct=631)

do i need to remove the hub or something and take both pieces to a shop and have the new bearing pressed in or something? i'm trying to get this shit done before the national gathering, and i'm starting to push my luck.

what i think should be working doesn't seem to be working.

The pic you linked is an AWD hub assembly.

If all you got was a bearing and no hub then you got a FWD bearing. It wont work.

this. fwd bearings are the opposite of awd bearings.

fwd = component fronts, assembly rears
awd = assembly front, component rears

installing a new awd front is a bolt-on procedure. it's cake.

you do realize that at ~$100, the wheel bearing assembly for the AWD front is dirt cheap, right?

It's a bolt in wheel hub. Trust me, you would much rather spend $30 more on an awd front hub than to have to do a front wheel bearing on a non turbo.

Let me know if you need one. I could bring one to the NG.

This. I absolutely DESPISE doing the FWD front wheel bearings. I do all my own work, except front wheel bearings anymore. We were just talking about bearings in the chatbox last night. I took the steering knuckles off last time and had a machine shop press them out and the new ones in. They quoted me $20 when I called. When I went to pick them up they said they had to charge more because those were the most pain in the ass bearings they had ever did.

Yes the Front wheel bearing suck on an N/A. Pressing the old out is no problem, it getting the new one in that is a total nightmare. Due to the shape of the knuckle it is very hard to get it positioned flat to press the bearing in correctly without damaging the bearing. We had to build a damn jig and bolt the hub to it to get it level to press the new one in. Thankfully I have a TT now so I don't have to deal with that shit ever again!

siii, bring it to the gathering. i think i may have something figured out, but we'll see tomorrow. most of my money is tied up at the moment, but i should be getting paid while i'm at the gathering, so maybe i'll be able to buy some extra things. yes, i'm always going to go for the full spindle or whatever.

thanks!
