After 9 years of dealing with my ex my daughter being shafted, we won. I'm super excited and just wanted to share.

Congrats bro! A friend of mine is going through this as well, her ex was abusive and such, she still has the scars on her neck from his attempted strangulation...

All I can say is make sure you get a really expensive attorney and have a mole on the inside that is willing to testify against the mom/dad on behalf of the child.

Expensive lawyer and get one of her friends to turn on her. And keep your own nose squeaky clean.

^ Then you should be golden. It easy for mother and father to fling shit at each other... but when you have somebody else flinging shit, it helps. Oh and a stupid expensive lawyer always help because they usually have better shit to fling.

Don't present anything unless you have evidence to back it up. Do not base your case on why YOU should have custody, rather center it on how BAD your ex is for your kid. Have as many witnesses as possible that are willing to testify about those bad things but ONLY if they have DIRECT knowledge, not hearing it from someone else. I tried this back in 2008 and it was big time fail.

You need to have someone on the inside that knows your ex and has evidence and testimony that is damaging to your ex.

For me it was an ex boyfriend of hers that had a kid with her, and about 3 years of emails and chat conversations where my ex pretty much says every bad thing she can say. My wife and I spent HOURS pouring through thousands of forwarded conversations between the two of them and they are the biggest reason I won.

Sometimes the right thing happens.

I know you don't need to be told, but be vigilant for attempts by your ex- to rehabilitate her rep and begin the hassle anew.

These types of things are rarely over easily, once a change of custody occurs.

kk good info. i have a meeting with my lawyer this next week to discuss witnesses ect. one nice little trick i pulled is that i found out my ex was and still is leaving the children at the overnight babysitter for 12+ hours at a time. well since she is a registered sitter we subpoened her records.

You think so?

I mean, most of the time?

Hadn't really given that much thought; I know I was a much better parent than my ex, but wouldn't have assumed anyone would give the nod to men.

Thanks for that.

Thanks for that.

I would give it 90%. I've seen men become WAY better parents. Men are more rational then women.

You are welcome :)

This. Glad to see a good conclusion. Hate that it's taken so long, though. Best of luck to you and your family on getting situated and turned around for your daughter. Keep us posted!!
