got it off. mugen is in and I´m assembling it all back but there was no gasket (6N) beetween thermostat cover and housing ???

Can I use some sealant beetween the cover and housing to seal it off (6N)?

Sure! Get some anaerobic sealer!

Is it a must to use sealant or gasket in there given the fact that there was no gasket in there and it did not leak ?

No, but why run the risk? It is very hard for metal to seal on metal. If there is any bit of it that isnt level or flush, it wont seal. This is what gaskets are for, to give the metal a softer surface to make a seal.

You probably had an o-ring on the old thermostat. I had a gasket in mind but I think it's a 1st gen thing (or maybe even an early 91 thing). I think most of these cars don't have a gasket, just an o-ring to seal it. I ended up going with rtv because I couldn't find a gasket in a reasonable time frame, it's working just fine.
