Went to the track on Friday night and only got one pass in, but fortunately one was enough. It was my first pass ever on slicks, and i bogged the launch but still managed to knock off my first 10 second pass, and got kicked out for not having a cage. Hopefully we will be back out next week (with a cage), the car has more in it for sure.

Setup for the track

Glad to see you made it over here Austin. You still taking this thing to the track every week? I've got a couple busy weeks coming up but I really want to get up there once and check this out.

Against on what your trying to prove. Wonder what times you can get with different turbos or engine internals?

Have not been back since the 10, i need to get a cage in this thing here soon. Pic a night you can make the track and I will try and get it done. We are going tonight with Shawna's Evo, and a couple of customer cars. If you want to come out.

I'll let you know. Stuff's been crazy between the Maximal thing and getting my car ready for a track day at Watkin's Glen in a couple weeks.

Talking about that some Chicago 3S and a few other people are coming out for the track day. If you'd be interesting I think the ones not racing at the glen are cruising around then heading over there to watch the end of the event. Afterwards back to my place in Avoca for some BBQ and a bonfire. If you're interested in meeting some other 3S people it'd be a good time to do it. Plenty of room to crash too if you want.

pump 91 baby! No wonder I spun a bearing. :P that was when I was trying to force myself into a rebuild. I ran it like that for almost a year. I cant get anything higher than 91 around here. It is shitty.

That is just plain awesome. Congratulations.

After I get my build back on the street [soon] I am seriously looking at going to the AEM EMS.

Could you give us some thoughts on it along with any pros and cons that you encountered tuning it. Would be grateful.

Thanks

I think its one of the best things you can do for a car. The two biggest problems I can think of are

1)will not pass inspection if they require hooking up to OBD2 vehicles in your state.
2)not for a beginner if you want to tune it yourself, there's a lot to it, and a lot of tricks to figure out. If you find a good tuner then your all set because once its tuned that's pretty much it, you don't have to touch it.

On the plus side if it is tuned properly it will be the smoothest car you have ever driven. It will feel like it wants to drive itself almost. Everything is adjustable including temperature changes so from day to day it runs really consistent. Unlike afc's and such that can't correct and constantly need to be changed to stay in tune.

The downfall to this and a friend was telling me about this. Is you have to always take it to a shop for a tune. Which really can suck and it is expensive. The ems is a lot more expensive then a piggyback which piggybacks are proven to work as well. It is all very debatable but an ems is not as cost effective as other solutions but are proven to work very well.

True to a POINT. have yourself a wideband 02 sensor and gauge hooked up with a logger and you can do alot of DIY tuning. I am still a novie when it comes to tuning but I was able to smoothen AFR's across the range without inducing knock at all.
Only thing i would need a dyno for is torque sensing

I would say that statement is debatable. IIRC Austin was making more power with a mostly stock setup + AEM, than a lot of guys with BPU + 13G's + AFC make. Factor in the turbo cost, injector cost, fuel pump cost, etc. (though I don't remember if you had a pump then Austin?), and I would suspect it's a close call.

E85 is a big part of it, as is the 9bs spool so fast they make torque down low, but die out up top really fast.

Congrats. Your times are quite impressive. Looking in your mods, there seems to be even more you can get out of that car before your maxed out. Hope to see the 9b turbos getting you into the 9's someday. 9b's doing 9's is something nobody will believe unless they see it. Make it happen.

From 10.95 to 9.99 is a HUGE jump. Yes, there is likely more in this setup with 9bs, but 9.9 is not there.

Sweet car though! Followed on some other forum from the beginning under a different screen name.

Ya, we didnt sponsor so i couldnt use this name. You are right it is a huge jump, is it possible maybe, but i dont think i will be trying to do that. I want to have fun with the car, thats why im going straight to a PTE 6765 next year, should be awesome!
