I was wondering Is this something I have to worry about with removing my radio temporarily?
94 R/T TT if that makes a difference.
Thanks for your help.

It doesnt have a code unless it's mitsu
this would be the first that i've heard that stealth and 3k radios were different. afaik, call a dealership with the code on your radio & they can give you the code to unlock it. it's not even that difficult.

Well you learned something new today, actually there’s no codes on infinity after 01

What do you mean there are no codes on infinity after 01? Do you mean 2001? Because if you do, that is completely irrelevant.

agreed. i'm still incredulous that stealths didn't have radio codes though. i want to see proof.
p.s.
radio codes should have gone out of style 20 years ago. aftermarket radios have been superior for at least that long.

^ Well some of us like to at least keep some of the stock stuff on the car, I still have my factory radio.
understandable. i just don't know why security codes didn't die with the 8-track. hell, by the time CD players hit the aftermarket radio market...that should have been the END of radio codes. period.

I saw 2 mitsubishi infinity am fm 6 disc changers on ebay fairly recently. They were newer than 01

They do have a different part number. I still have my 95 radio in storage and a new one. I don't think the dodge version had a second antenna. Haven't looked at it in at least 5 years though.
The old version of caps had the dodge part numbers by vin number all except the 95 tt's

That still doesn't make any sense. Does that mean Mitsubishi was putting thing in cars that they hadn't even made yet?
Let start over here: The guy asked if he unplugged his stock radio in his 94 RT/TT would he need a security code when he hooked it back up? I don't see where he said the radio is a newer one made after 2001.

I feel like I'm being picked on. That question was answered. Additional information was supplied about 2001 Mitsubishi infinity and up because it relates.

What, you are being picked on? Wow really?
You stated they didn't have codes and the codes were eliminated after 2001... well that's great and all but the last dodge stealth was produced in 1996. So the code elimination after 2001 is completely irrelevant considering the whole platform ended in 1999. So really this has nothing to with the 3000GT/Stealth radios.
And this sure does look like same radio that is in my car:

Also from here http://www.radio-code.com/Dodge_Stealth_Pay_radiocode.htm:
Most Dodge Stealth vehicles are equipped with radios that require a special radio code. This code is not required, unless the radio is removed from the vehicle, or the vehicles battery is disconnected.
You should always have a copy of your radio code in a safe place, not in the vehicle itself !
If you know your code, but do not know how to enter It into the radio:
Visit car radio unlock code guides, for assistance with entering your radio unlock code.
Dodge Stealth calls this feature "Anti-theft". Its purpose is to prevent unauthorized users of your radio and will not allow your car stereo to operate without the proper code.
Dodge Stealth began using the antitheft feature, around the 1990 and is still used in many Dodge Stealth vehicles today!
Retrieving your anti-thief radio code is simple and quick!
Simply follow the steps below.
There are more threads about Stealth codes, but well I don't feel like going through them all and quoting.

Talking about an 01 radio in no way, shape or form related to a radio in a 94 Stealth.

I'm surprised to hear you say that since you know about the backwards compatibility of the 3s radios.

It's not about proving me wrong... I'm just trying to find the correlation between the eliminate of codes after 2001 and this guy's question. If you never said anything about the code elimination, I wouldn't be questioning you. It just seemed that you were saying there was no codes on the radios because they eliminated them after 2001.
I also found a few threads where people were asking how to get the codes for the Dodge Stealth, so that led me to believe the fact some radios did HAVE codes. I didn't want to see the OP find out the hard way if his car had a code, and he didn't have the numbers.

The ebay units were mentioned to fit the 94-99 3s infinity systems and no code 3000GT Dodge Stealth AM-FM CD Radio & 6 CD Changer | eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300560473131)
So there's 2 decent Mitsubishi radios that are backward compatible to the 3s thru 06 that was one of them.

Nevermind man, you don't seem to be getting it. I don't see what radio compatibility has to do with this thread. It just causes confusion, obviously.

Steve has become a primary source of help in gto audio. Steve is at a higher level than both of us in audio in general so all bets are off on the technical degree of this question and it's answers.

Sorry if I didn't see that you were trying to turn this into an end all audio thread. I'll remember that the next random headlight thread I see, I just insert random unrelated facts about headlights in there.

Hey, I am learning the ins and out of this car and audio as I go and do my install. I am working on a great improvement to the 6x9 housing. it involves 1 can of rubberized undercoating / per housing. neoprene gaskets and Polyfill.
I also can show you all way to gain that magnet clearance without cutting the port. I will also have a close guess to the volume of the enclosure that the housing makes and can provide output graphs for certain types of raw speakers.
In the end codes or not , will not effect me, I just don't think that my build will be done by NG. I don't want to be without any tunes for the drive. ;)
Tang Band make a 6x9 subwoofer that won't shake your fillings lose but looks very promising to give a lil more in the lows than a typical car audio 6x9. I just need to get the volume figured out befor I release my findings.
Also the neoprene whether stripping makes a great rattle prevention by putting it on all the interior's mounting points to the chassis as well as where the interior pieces over lap each other. Will show pictures of that on my build log.
