Can someone tell me what the big deal is? They just opened up two locations near me, and people have been waiting 3+ hours in line for...
A burger?
I've never been to a In N Out, but come on, I'd get pissed if I had to wait 3 hours for prime rib at a nice restaurant.

Its just a craze. People here in Utah went crazy too last year. All they got is that their produce is super fresh and not on ice. The patties are small like McD's and their prices are a bit high. Oh, and if you like your french fries to taste like potato chips then go for it. I personally dont like it that much. Give me Carls Jr.

In n Out in DALLAS?! I'm there! It's the most awesomest fast food burger ever. The toasted buns, fresh lettuce and tomatoes, animal style patties, grilled onions, extra cheese double double loving is fantastic! I was excited for a five guys to open up locally but, IMO, they don't even raise a finger to the taste of an in n out burger. If you're new to In n Out try a double double first if you want a delicious and simple burger. Oooor if you want something more jazzy go for an animal style double double with some animal style fries (just do it, you'll love it :D) and maybe even a neopolitan shake. God, you just got me all hungry like. The basics of their menu are, well, on the menu, but once you get to know the special options it becomes a whole new orgasm in your mouth...yes, I said it. lol
IN N OUT IN DALLAS! WOOOO! :D
^maybe it's a CA thing? Some people love it (mmmmmeeee) and some people don't see the big deal.

Same thing happened when sonic came to jersey. There were 5 cops assigned to lot duty to make sure the highway didn't become blocked, and when it did they started turning people away. It was like that for 6 months. Now its a little quieter but still busy at lunch time.

I went to one twice while I was in LA and the first time didn't really think it was too great, second time was better but I honestly can't see the craze either.

Same thing happened here in Nevada.
There was a lot of hype (especially from the Californians) about how great it was, and I think people just wanted a change. It's still fast food, but as Charger said, they use a lot fresher ingredients. It's also pretty cool that they have a few burger styles that aren't listed on the menu if you get sick of their standard offerings.

I went once and it was nothing special. Nothing I hadn't eaten before at any mom & pop burger joint. After all the hype, I felt like it was a bunch of crap. If I want an awesome burger I'll go to Five Guys.

Yeah, good but overrated. I go there when I'm in SoCal sometimes. I would agree that Five Guys is a better burger.
But really, how does any burger joint generate so much hype? I think there's a practical limit to how excited I can get about a hamburger.

LOL I'm with you. Best burger I ever had, in fact, wasn't from any restaurant, it was from the ground venison that my old shop teacher brought to school for a cookout for the auto shop guys after his annual hunting trip.

Deer burger is the best. But then you have people that just like the grease and the fat of beef burgers that wont enjoy venison.

Elk burger better than venison IMO, but prefer either over beef. Five guys and Carl's are the best ff going.

I have a couple of in n outs around my area and they are always full, many times the lines to the drive thru go onto the street. A cheese burger with grilled onions, animal style fries, and a root beer really hits the spot at any time of the day.

In and Out is ok, beats Mc D's, Jack in the Box or Sonic easily. We just started getting some Smashburgers here in San Diego and they're much better than any other fast food burger I've tried.
