I've been doing some speedway racing on clay. And now I just bought a 2002 top kart chassis for sprint stuff.

Most of the speedway guys still run yamaha kt100's, but those have died out a lot at the local sprint tracks. But I guess they will put me in with the World formula(I should be faster)

Just seeing if any other karters are out there.

I used to (still have the kart). I raced in the 4-stroke honda class, which I believe is one class down from the Kt100s (at least at the club I raced at). I'm surprised you're sticking with the Yamaha, especially with the popularity of Rotax Max.

What are the Top Karts like? Personally I've got a Birel, and the club I was is was mainly full of Birels and Sodis.

You asked for pics..

I consider this my first real race. I did a couple last summer but it was with a weak engine and I was nowhere near competitive.

This is my speedway kart, I haven't actually raced it since I got it mid-season in march. I decided to finish off my winter series in the kart I was used to. Ended up 3rd in points in the above kart for my rookie season.

What it looks like now, with a different tank, steeringwheel, and numbers.

The new kart. Just picked it up this last week.

The reason I am staying with the KT if purely $$$. They also have done 4 races for this years season at my local sprint track so no point in racing competitively in it yet. We also have 3 KT's and one 100cc reed jet.

If I can get some seat time and make the chassis perform well I will consider spending the money for either a TaG, or rotax this winter. But right now it's out of the budget.

Looks mint! Just wondering, are the speedway karts set up differently or do they still lift up the inner rear tire on turns?

I've never seen one lift up the left rear, not that it's impossible... We run about 52-58% cross, depending on the kart and/or track. meaning the left rear and the right front have more weight supported and pushed more weight back to the LR when in a left turn. The left front gets lifted pretty regularly coming out of the turn, especially with a higher cross. Setting the tire stagger is huge as well.

My #2 kart has an adjustable RF wheel height for super quick changes to the cross. 1/2 turn changes it approx 1%. It also has adjustment to change the angle of the rear axle(helps rotate the kart for the left turn) Some other karts you can change the height of the LR to adjust the cross as well. The offset(speedway karts) are usually going to have more adjustment and settings to help you turn left, you also sit a couple more inches to the left to help left-side weight.. My #2 is an offset, the #29 is a strait rail. Both Invader chassis'

I'm still a newb to karting. Only done about 10 races total. But I've picked up the physics part pretty quick and have learned how to setup the karts to where I feel comfortable giving other new drivers info/setup tips and help.

The top kart we picked up is in pretty good shape for a 2002. One of the front spindles is bent but we have a spare w/ it. The owner used to race pretty hardcore and ended up getting sponsored so the kart was sitting for the last 5 years.

Cool. Well I know the karts we race on pavement here are set up so that they lift the inside rear tire on turns for tighter turning, since they don't have diffs. The kart you bought looks like its set up that way (it should lift the outer front tire if you turn the wheels while its parked), can't tell if your speedway kart is set up though.

Got the new tillet seat mounted on the kart tonight, swapped the bent spindle, and fixed a couple small things. Supposed to get my engine back from the builder next week, and need to get a new rear bumper made(rules say they have to be wider now than what it has).

Once it's complete we will be able to corner scale it and see if there are any balance issues.
