View Full Version : Brought my car back from the Dead- New DR700 setup!!!!

So it's been like 2 years since I even looked at my 95 VR4. ECG is this weekend and while I sold most off my whole setup from last time (3.5L stroker with 16g's and such) I was able to get her back together using a completely stock shortblock and heads.
Matt from DR has sold me a set of his new DR700's (basically DR750's without the titanium turbine wheel) and I got her back up and running in 3 days to get her ready for this weekend.
I will post some pics once I get a chance. These DR700's are totally badass looking and they perform great. Very Torquey!
I put her on the dyno and dialed the car in super conservative (10.5:1 AFR) and at 19 PSI ON STRAIGHT 93 PUMP GAS WITHOUT METH she put down 450.96 AWHP and 461.77 AWTQ. I will go more aggressive after ECG, but for now I need the engine to hold together
If these turbos perform anything like the dr750's, I am betting these turbos will get me around 600 AWHP on race gas or with a bunch of meth.
For now, 450 horsies sounds pretty good since I haven't had this car running for 2 years and I just wambagged her together
After this weekend, expect to see some race gas numbers and some vids on the dyno... I can't wait

I missed it a lot, but I hadn't realized it until I drove it again.

when I first pushed it out with about an inch of 2 year old dust all over the car

450 AWHP and 461 AWTQ at 19psi

Before the end of this week I will be putting the car back on the dyno for some more tuning and race gas!!! I expect to see some serious power.
When I get those dyno results, I will post a vid and I will overlay Eric's DR750's with my DR700's.
I think there are some really cool pics of my car from ECG that I hope I can copy and blam them into this post. The crappy pics I posted don't do the car justice at all.

What are you using to tune? I noticed you're mafless.

I am running a GM air meter with maf-translator and an apexi AFC. You just can't see it in the pics

Sneaky bastard :p

Looks really good. I'd like to know how it runs after more boost. Been thinking about picking up a set of DR700s myself.

I will be having some fun tomorrow boys and girls!!! Wouldn't you know it, a SS fuel filter element and a bunch of E85 landed in just the right place in my car:)

So here's the deal. I got 602 AWHP and 603AWTQ on these DR700's. Once I switched to the 1000cc injectors I was able to push it farther. This is at 30psi on E85.
I think I can probably push it a little further, but I am very happy with the current results.
Here are a couple of my runs., Red is 30psi and blue is 29.

I still have to take a pic of the 602hp and 603 tq and post it up.

Love how the hp and tq are pretty much dead even! I'm sure its a beast man.. Must be a fun street car.

So (if I'm reading the graph correctly) kind of as expected, there wasn't much gain to be had from 29 to 30 psi... Did you happen to notice the point at which the efficiency started to drop? Very impressive no matter what.
