FORT WORTH, Texas -- A former Miss USA's claims of being groped during a pat-down at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport could be a felony under a bill gaining momentum in the Texas Legislature.

The bill would make it illegal for a security officer to intentionally touch someone's private areas -- even atop clothing -- unless they have probable cause to believe the person is carrying something illegal.

Bill sponsor State Rep. David Simpson says the searches are removing people's dignity.

Last fall the Transportation Security Administration started a new pat-down procedure.
Susie Castillo, crowned Miss USA in 2003, said she was "molested" during a pat-down last April.

TSA spokesman Nicholas Kimball says the agency doesn't comment on pending legislation. He says current security measures are the best ways to mitigate the risk of terrorism.

I don't know about that. I'd like to see it if you can pull it up.

I didn't put it there for a reason. I really don’t think it’s political but more of an issue personal violation. Sure it easily could be made into a political discussion but damn that shit gets old. I think everybody has different views on TSA but most look at them pretty negative.

I agree, but (not to be political), without pronouncing on the wisdom of the Texas effort, if Arizona's recent efforts to deal with internal matters are an indicator, Texas will soon be the next object of national legislative ridicule.

Hmm, pat downs don't bother me. To me it's no different than going to the doctor, it's not sexual to me. If the other person gets off on it, so be it.

If available, I'll opt for the full body scan anyway...infinitely quicker. If someone wants to fap to an x-ray style picture of my cack, knock yourself out. When I was in Miami this past January, waiting in the pat-down line, I asked one of the TSA staff what the futristic Dr. Who looking machine was. He said "full body scanner, wanna try it out?". *looks at stupid long pat down line* To which my wife and I replied "sure, why not". 60 seconds later we were on our way to our boarding gate.

Well it’s the abuse of the pat down. I don’t care if I get a quick pat down but I’ll sure as hell freak out if my wife or daughter is getting touched inappropriately.

Well, I think it's pretty hard to draw a definitive line of what is and isn't appropriate(people are always going to bitch no matter what). I mean, sure there is blatant inappropriate like a full on boob squeeze or ball juggling. I just think most people are flipping out a little too much about getting grazed. Heck, if you go to a tailor to have pants made/altered...

I do think TSA officers doing pat downs should always be the same sex as who they're patting down. Yes, I'm sure some of them will be gay, but it's the best you can do. For me, the shit takes too long anyway. If I can hit the scanner, that's my ticket for sure.

Bottom line is, when necessity butts heads with "civil rights", civil rights has historically been victorious.

We'll see what happens, here.

Million-dollar question here is what if they DO pat you down (where they shouldn't) and you just so happen to be smuggling something illegal (non-harmful to others)? Do they just shake hands and call it a truce?

You mean the old Bob Probert ounce-of-coke-in-the-pants move?

Good question.
